Neben auffälligen Veränderungen von Wahrnehmen und Denken, Antrieb und Affekt zeigen Personen mit schizophrenen Störungen häufig neuropsychologische Defizite. Schon Jahre vor den ersten psychopathologischen Symptomen verändern sich Aufmerksamkeits- und Gedächtnisleistungen, schlussfolgerndes Denken, Problemlösen und sprachliches Ausdrucksvermögen. Neuropsychologische Defizite bleiben häufig auch dann bestehen, wenn die psychotischen Symptome erfolgreich behandelt wurden und beeinträchtigen die soziale Beziehungsfähigkeit und die berufliche Leistungsfähigkeit langfristig stärker als die kurzzeitig sehr auffälligen psychotischen Symptome. Für die Rehabilitation von Personen mit schizophrenen Störungen ist es daher besonders wichtig, bestehende Leistungsdefizite zu erkennen und in ihren Auswirkungen auf Wahrnehmung von Therapieangeboten und die gesamte Lebensgestaltung einschätzen und einbeziehen zu können. Der vorliegende Band beschreibt anschaulich und systematisch, mit welchen kognitiven Leistungsminderungen bei Personen mit schizophrenen Störungen in verschiedenen Erkrankungsstadien gerechnet werden muss und wie diese neuropsychologischen Störungen im Kontext neurobiologischer und psychologischer Erklärungsmodelle der Schizophrenie verstanden werden können. Für die Anwendung in der klinischen Praxis ist übersichtlich dargestellt, wie kognitive Störungen standardisiert erhoben werden können und wie neuropsychologische Behandlungsstrategien zur Verbesserung der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit im Alltag pharmakologische und psychotherapeutische Behandlungsansätze wirksam ergänzen können.

This book presents a comprehensive neuropsychodynamic strategy for treating psychiatric disorders.
