Neuvostoliitto siirsi Hangon vuokra-alueelle maa-, meri- ja ilmavoimien sekä rannikkotykistön joukkoja ja sotakalustoa. Hangon vuokra-alueen neuvostojoukot muodostivat selkeän uhkan Suomen turvallisuudelle. Vuokra-alue olisi voinut toimia muutaman divisioonan maihinnousun lähtöalueena Suomen keskeisten kaupungien kuten Helsingin, Turun ja jopa Tampereen valtaukselle.

This collection of seventeen essays takes its inspiration from the scholarly achievements of the Dutch historian Jan Lucassen. They reflect a central theme in his research: the history of labor.
