He married Taeko Yamashiro, daughter of Takao Yamashiro and Kami, 30 December 1953 in Okinawa. They had two children, Miya and Norman. Taeko died 28 December 1976. He retired from the Department of the Army in 1976. He married Esther in about 1979.
