About the Book: Caregiving for aging parents is a physical and emotional reality currently facing a large number of the 30 million baby boomers in America. That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine, based on a family caregiving approach developed by Daniel R. Tobin, M.D., and the staff of Care Support of America, presents eight activities that offer practical and pro-active guidance for middle aged people who are caregivers to their parents. This guide to coordinating the varied aspects of caregiving includes information about helping parents to remain safe in their home, understanding their medical treatment and health requirements, navigating insurance and other financial issues, dealing with the emotional issues that often arise, and finding ways to gain control of the process, improve the quality of life and create meaningful memories while caring for aging parents.

During the Nazi regime many children and young people in Europe found their lives uprooted by Nazi policies, resulting in their relocation around the globe. The Young Victims of the Nazi Regime represents the diversity of their experiences, covering a range of non-European perspectives on the Second World War and aspects of memory. This book is unique in that it places the experiences of children and youth in a transnational context, shifting the conversation of displacement and refuge to countries that have remained under-examined in a comparative context. Featuring essays from an international range of experts, this book analyses the key themes in three sections: the migration of children to countries including England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, and Brazil; the experiences of young people who remained in Nazi Europe and became victims of war, displacement and deportation; and finally the challenges of rebuilding lives and representing traumas in the aftermath of war. In its comparisons between Jewish and non-Jewish experiences and how these intersected and diverged, it revisits debates about cultural genocide through the separation of families and communities, as well as contributing new perspectives on forced labour, families and the Holocaust, and Germans as war victims.

For some time I have been preparing a general work on primitive superstition and religion. Among the problems which had attracted my attention was the hitherto unexplained rule of the Arician priesthood; and last spring it happened that in the course of my reading I came across some facts which, combined with others I had noted before, suggested an explanation of the rule in question. As the explanation, if correct, promised to throw light on some obscure features of primitive religion, I resolved to develop it fully, and, detaching it from my general work, to issue it as a separate study. This book is the result. Now that the theory, which necessarily presented itself to me at first in outline, has been worked out in detail, I cannot but feel that in some places I may have pushed it too far. If this should prove to have been the case, I will readily acknowledge and retract my error as soon as it is brought home to me. Meantime my essay may serve its purpose as a first attempt to solve a difficult problem, and to bring a variety of scattered facts into some sort of order and system. A justification is perhaps needed of the length at which I have dwelt upon the popular festivals observed by European peasants in spring, at midsummer, and at harvest. It can hardly be too often repeated, since it is not yet generally recognised, that in spite of their fragmentary character the popular superstitions and customs of the peasantry are by far the fullest and most trustworthy evidence we possess as to the primitive religion of the Aryans. Indeed the primitive Aryan, in all that regards his mental fibre and texture, is not extinct. He is amongst us to this day. The great intellectual and moral forces which have revolutionised the educated world have scarcely affected the peasant. In his inmost beliefs he is what his forefathers were in the days when forest trees still grew and squirrels played on the ground where Rome and London now stand.

Love is the Fire is a fiction based in history of a time when people were prepared to die for their faith. It was a time when young men travelled to the Continent to study with passionate teachers before returning to England to work undercover. It follows the life of the Southwells to Robert's martyrdom. Stolen by Gypsies as a baby and rescued by his loyal nurse, Robert Southwell lived in an age when it was illegal to train as a Catholic Priest and return to England. Having left his family to study in France, he returned to England. Moving in darkness from house to house, living in priest-holes, constantly hunted, he managed to evade the authorities - until he was betrayed by a young Catholic woman to the dreaded priest hunter, Richard Topcliffe. He was accused of treason, hounded down, tortured, then hung, drawn and quartered at Tyburn in 1595. A kinsman of Shakespeare and fine poet, Robert Southwell was Cannonised by Pope Paul VI in 1970
