In this book a new model for data classification was developed. This new model is based on the competitive neural network Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) and type-2 fuzzy logic. This computational model consists of the hybridization of the aforementioned techniques, using a fuzzy logic system within the competitive layer of the LVQ network to determine the shortest distance between a centroid and an input vector. This new model is based on a modular LVQ architecture to further improve its performance on complex classification problems. It also implements a data-similarity process for preprocessing the datasets, in order to build dynamic architectures, having the classes with the highest degree of similarity in different modules. Some architectures were developed in order to work mainly with two datasets, an arrhythmia dataset (using ECG signals) for classifying 15 different types of arrhythmias, and a satellite images segments dataset used for classifying six different types of soil. Both datasets show interesting features that makes them interesting for testing new classification methods.

This book comprehensively covers the topic of data science. Data science is an umbrella term that encompasses data analytics, data mining, machine learning, and several other related disciplines. This book synthesizes both fundamental and advanced topics of a research area that has now reached maturity. The chapters of this book are organized into three sections: The first section is an introduction to data science. Starting from the basic concepts, the book will highlight the types of data, its use, its importance and issues that are normally faced in data analytics. Followed by discussion on wide range of applications of data science and widely used techniques in data science. The second section is devoted to the tools and techniques of data science. It consists of data pre-processing, feature selection, classification and clustering concepts as well as an introduction to text mining and opining mining. And finally, the third section of the book focuses on two programming languages commonly used for data science projects i.e. Python and R programming language. Although this book primarily serves as a textbook, it will also appeal to industrial practitioners and researchers due to its focus on applications and references. The book is suitable for both undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as those carrying out research in data science. It can be used as a textbook for undergraduate students in computer science, engineering and mathematics. It can also be accessible to undergraduate students from other areas with the adequate background. The more advanced chapters can be used by postgraduate researchers intending to gather a deeper theoretical understanding.

Europe In The New World Economy Opportunities And Challenges written by Luminita Chivu and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-25 with Business & Economics categories.

The transition from traditional economic patterns to a model marked by enhanced efficiency, environmental responsibility, and the adaptation to a “new normal” economic philosophy marks a pivotal moment in understanding Europe’s economic ecosystem within the new world economy. However, the reliance on conventional economic philosophies has often overlooked the broader economic and social landscapes in which these paradigms operate. This volume explores emerging research topics, methodologies, and techniques that are essential to understanding the global economy dynamics and growth patterns under crisis circumstances and persistent uncertainties. Featuring contributions presented at the 2023 International Conference “Economic Scientific Research - Theoretical, Empirical and Practical Approaches” (ESPERA) held in Bucharest Romania in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the National Institute for Economic Research “Costin C. Kiritescu” of the Romanian Academy, this book offers theoretical and practical contributions as well as quantitative and qualitative analyses providing valuable inputs for the design of adequate strategies and policies, aimed to address the future challenges and to capitalize on the emerged opportunities. From sustainable development to digital innovation, this book examines the dynamic landscape of European economics and underscores the significance of interdisciplinary approaches and technological advancements in fostering economic resilience and growth. The contents of this book are of interest to scholars, researchers, students, practitioners, and policy makers in economics and business transformation.

This book describes how to use expert knowledge—which is often formulated by using imprecise (fuzzy) words from a natural language. In the 1960s, Zadeh designed special "fuzzy" techniques for such use. In the 1980s, fuzzy techniques started controlling trains, elevators, video cameras, rice cookers, car transmissions, etc. Now, combining fuzzy with neural, genetic, and other intelligent methods leads to new state-of-the-art results: in aerospace industry (from drones to space flights), in mobile robotics, in finances (predicting the value of crypto-currencies), and even in law enforcement (detecting counterfeit banknotes, detecting online child predators and in creating explainable AI systems). The book describes these (and other) applications—as well as foundations and logistics of fuzzy techniques. This book can be recommended to specialists—both in fuzzy and in various application areas—who will learn latest techniques and their applications, and to students interested in innovative ideas.
