After the cruel nature of migrating, & the uncomfortable conditions of the journey, across the Atlantic Ocean to Ellis Island, NJ along with setting up of their new business delivering Coal & Ice, just outside New York, in Harrison & Kearny, New Jersey, they lost their new born baby. Surviving their struggles, their business and family began to thrive. My Great Grandparents, successfully, went on to have 3 more babies, one being, my Grandmother from Matawan, NJ. Their, 1st born daughter, my Mother, met my Father, at a bus stop, just outside the main gate of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. After a whirlwind marriage, at 18 , & much to my Grandmother's chagrin, the newly weds quickly left, for Stuttgart Germany & the USEUCOM, the U.S.A. military base. After, 12 years of marriage, 6 different Army bases & 5 children, I was born in 1963, their 6th child. Pregnant again, expecting their 7th child, our family came full circle back to Freehold, NJ. Unfortunately, my parents divorced. My Mother told my Dad to "leave and never come back". So, he obliged. By 1969, my Mother remarried & had 1 more baby with her new husband, my, new stepfather. Their new marriage, not only brought a new, baby sister & 8th child but a new home for all of us, in Howell, NJ. Then, my great education, from The Howell Township School District, taught me to love writing. My book, "New Jersey, My Love, How Does Your "Garden Grow?, is about growing up in a large family of 10, with a strict & tough step-father. Then, independent at 18, I walked the road & towns of New Jersey to find love, work and play. A true New Jerseyan's life story of loss & victory, intertwined with historic towns & roads in New Jersey.

The View From Federal Twist written by James Golden and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-03 with Gardening categories.

Federal Twist is set on a ridge above the Delaware River in western New Jersey. It is a naturalistic garden that has loose boundaries and integrates closely with the natural world that surrounds it. It has no utilitarian or leisure uses (no play areas, swimming pools, or outdoor dining) and the site is not an obvious choice for a garden (heavy clay soil, poorly drained: quick death for any plants not ecologically suited to it). The physical garden, its plants and its features, is of course an appealing and pleasant place to be but Federal Twist's real charm and significance lie in its intangible aspects: its changing qualities and views, the moods and emotions it evokes, and its distinctive character and sense of place. This book charts the author's journey in making such a garden. How he made a conscious decision not to "improve the land", planted large, competitive plants into rough grass, experimented with seeding to develop sustainable plant communities. And how he worked with light to provoke certain moods and allowed the energy of the place, chance, and randomness to have its say. Part experimental horticulturist and part philosopher, James Golden has written an important book for naturalistic and ecological gardeners and anyone interested in exploring the relationship between gardens, nature, and ourselves.

If you need hope, you need to read this book. You Are Me is a fascinating, heartening true story of one person’s journey from becoming crippled with amnesia by a car accident to recovering and becoming a parent to children who each needed a second chance at life. Our protagonist had the life he had always dreamed of—a great job, a partner, a nice home, and a great set of friends—a life many people dream of. At twenty-seven, a car accident left him severely handicapped and unable to remember his life before the car accident. The situation became worse when he was sent back to live with his parents in Alaska. Dealing with the unimaginable loss almost ended his life. Miracles happen when you least expect them. After seven years of trying, failing, giving up, and trying again, our protagonist eventually recovered much of what the car accident took away. He eventually got a job that he was able to keep, and with that came an amazing second chance at life. Because of this second chance, he was compelled to adopt children who also needed second chances. He adopted twins, then got married, and then together with husband, Joseph, adopted more children. These children came bearing the signs of unspeakable trauma. What had happened to them? No one knew. Four other families had taken them in and decided they couldn’t be parents to these children. Would these kids be able to recover from the damage that was done to their souls? Would these parents be able to love these children unconditionally? An event so implausible then threatens to tear apart the fragile family. Will the children ever have the family they so desperately need? Would there be a miracle for the children?

Answering a woman’s desperate call for help, young Navy widow Helen Devries opens her Whidbey Island home as a refuge to Choi Eunhee. As they bond over common losses and a delicate, potentially devastating secret, their friendship spans the remainder of their lives. After losing her mother, Cassidy Quinn spent her childhood summers with her gran, Helen, at her farmhouse. Nourished by her grandmother’s love and encouragement, Cassidy discovers a passion that she hopes will bloom into a career. But after Helen passes, Cassidy learns that her home and garden have fallen into serious disrepair. Worse, a looming tax debt threatens her inheritance. Facing the loss of her legacy and in need of allies and ideas, Cassidy reaches out to Nick, her former love, despite the complicated emotions brought by having him back in her life. Cassidy inherits not only the family home but a task, spoken with her grandmother’s final breaths: ask Grace Kim—Eunhee’s granddaughter—to help sort through the contents of the locked hope chest in the attic. As she and Grace dig into the past, they unearth their grandmothers’ long-held secret and more. Each startling revelation reshapes their understanding of their grandmothers and ultimately inspires the courage to take risks and make changes to own their lives. Set in both modern-day and midcentury Whidbey Island, Washington, this dual-narrative story of four women—grandmothers and granddaughters—intertwines across generations to explore the secrets we keep, the love we pass down, and the heirlooms we inherit from a well-lived life.
