De muchas de ellas es desconocido por el público su origen hidalgo, su nobleza de sangre, que influyó de una u otra manera en su espíritu, marcando en muchos casos su trayectoria vital. Muchas hidalgas han permanecido en el olvido y no han tenido trascendencia histórica por el simple hecho de ser mujeres. Esta obra pretende rescatar a algunas de ellas, a la vez que desmontar el estereotipo del “hidalgo pobre y ocioso”, tan difundido, sobre todo en la literatura y el teatro del Siglo de Oro, pero que, en realidad, no se corresponde con los hechos, como se pone de manifiesto en esta obra y en la que le ha precedido.
