"European Union policies are contributing to a cycle of extreme abuse against migrants and asylum seekers in Libya. Through their support, the EU, Italy and other member states are enabling the Libyan Coast Guard ... to intercept boats leaving Libya knowing all migrants and asylum seekers are then detained in arbitrary, indefinite, and abusive detention. [This report] is based on visits to four Libyan migrant detention centers where Human Rights Watch spoke with over 100 detained migrants and asylum seekers and documented severe overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, malnutrition, lack of adequate healthcare as well as violent abuse by guards including beatings, whippings, and other violence. The EU and member states’ efforts to alleviate the suffering of migrants have had negligible impact on the ground."--Page 4 of cover.

Gangs of bloodthirsty and ruthless outlaws terrorized the American Southwest before and after Mexico ceded the land now called Texas. One such pack of thirty or forty cutthroats had what they thought was a perfectly impregnable hideout until a trio of U.S. Marshals was given the mission of bringing them to justice. These marshals were no barroom toughs, they'd been brought up church-going citizens, and all three had been schooled in the art of self-defense and survival. The leader of this outlaw gang made a fatal mistake when he ordered a rancher's beautiful virgin daughter kidnapped. His gunmen terrorized this beautiful maiden with a rattlesnake while threatening her with a life of abuse and humiliation at the hands of the outlaw boss. The boss of this lawless low-life gang of killers took great pride in using his blacksnake whip to maintain his unshakeable hold on his captives and even on the outlaws if they displeased him. He and his gang killed for the thrill of watching the innocent die. Members of this gang would lead the marshals on a chase throughout the Southwest and across the Rio Grande into Mexico, leaving a bloody trail of robbery and death.

Escape from Hell is a story of eternal hope.It is based upon spirit communications from "Antonio", an Italian Victorian gentleman, direct from the spirit world. It is his story, his testimony of what for him followed when he "died", or rather, his physical body died. It takes us right from the very first 'after death' circumstances he faced, to how he was guided and helped, and through his own efforts helped himself, and gradually began to climb the spiritual ladder to 'escape from hell'. Antonio gives us examples of what can, and for all too many people does, for them follow their Earth life. It shows us how those people who live solely for themselves, or morally corrupt, cruel, unjust, harmful, unforgiving, and destructive or in any way evil lives, find they have for themselves created nothing but miserable circumstances awaiting them when they first depart Earth life. As for the communicator, Antonio, he tells us how, inspired and motivated by his genuine love for Angelica, beautiful soul still on Earth, Antonio was gradually able to progress from darkness and misery to brighter and happier regions of spirit life - from darkness into light. So often, it is only the "brighter and happier regions of spirit life" that we hear about. Thousands of messages to this effect are relayed every week by mediums in Spiritualist demonstrations and services, and at independent venues as well as during private sittings. Loved ones communicate to reassure those on Earth that life is eternal, and that they are happy in the "afterlife" as it is so often called. Such communications tell us of happy reunions with family and friends, with animals too, and of the beautiful conditions in which they live and await us when "our time comes". All this is fine and correct, assuming one has led a reasonably decent and good life, having been a caring and sharing and in one way or another kind, compassionate and even a mere 'reasonably loving' kind of person. Although, we on Earth should be aware that the simple fact of believing in "life after death" guarantees us nothing. It certainly doesn't ensure one's transition to a higher and brighter spirit sphere. Many people say they believe in an afterlife and still live and behave in ways unbecoming to an evolved soul, to say the least.By reading this book readers will discover that the initial fate of those who, when on Earth, lived the worst kind of lives and much, much much more. They will also find an Appendix with corroborative material and links to spirit communications that they can themselves listen to, and hear what those in spirit life have to say.

Escape From Hell written by Alfréd Wetzler and has been published by Berghahn Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-04 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

"Alfred Wetzler was a true hero. His escape from Auschwitz, and the report he helped compile, telling for the first time the truth about the camp as a place of mass murder, led directly to saving the lives of 120,000 Jews: the Jews of Budapest who were about to be deported to their deaths. No other single act in the Second World War saved so many Jews from the fate that Hitler and the SS had determined for them. This book tells Wetzler's story." - Sir Martin Gilbert "Wetzler is a master at evoking the universe of Auschwitz, and especially, his and Vrba's harrowing flight to Slovakia. The day-by-day account of the tremendous difficulties the pair faced after the Nazis had called off their search of the camp and its surroundings is both riveting and heart wrenching. ...] Shining vibrantly through the pages of the memoir are the tenacity and valor of two young men, who sought to inform the world about the greatest outrage ever committed by humans against their fellow humans." - From Introduction by Dr Robert Rozett] Together with another young Slovak Jew, both of them deported in 1942, the author succeeded in escaping from the notorious death camp in the spring of 1944. There were some very few successful escapes from Auschwitz during the war, but it was these two who smuggled out the damning evidence - a ground plan of the camp, constructional details of the gas chambers and crematoriums and, most convincingly, a label from a canister of Cyclone gas. The present book is cast in the form of a novel to allow factual information not personally collected by the two fugitives, but provided for them by a handful of reliable friends, to be included. Nothing, however, has been invented. It is a shocking account of Nazi genocide and of the inhuman conditions in the camp, but equally shocking is the initial disbelief the fugitive's revelations met with after their return. Ewald Osers has translated over 150 books and received many translation prizes and honours.

“A classic in the field” (New York Times), this is a penetrating investigation into moral and ethical questions raised by war, drawing on examples from antiquity to the present. Just and Unjust Wars has forever changed how we think about the ethics of conflict. In this modern classic, political philosopher Michael Walzer examines the moral issues that arise before, during, and after the wars we fight. Reaching from the Athenian attack on Melos, to the Mai Lai massacre, to the war in Afghanistan and beyond, Walzer mines historical and contemporary accounts and the testimony of participants, decision makers, and victims to explain when war is justified and what ethical limitations apply to those who wage it.
