A corrupt but brilliant detective, Tim Landry does the one thing that keeps him bulletproof: produce results. Landry, along with his anti-gang unit ERASE, has stemmed the tide of crime in Tannam City, all the while using his position for his own personal gain. But when an unexplainable explosion threatens to reignite a gang war, Landry must solve the case before everything he's worked for collapses. All the while, the detective's attention is split between protecting a mysterious woman who may be the key to his case, dealing with the new assistant district attorney who wants to take him down, and keeping tabs on his wife Samantha, whose suspicious behavior has given Landry cause to pause. Can Landry keep it all together? Or will the sins of Tannam City's top cop finally cause all parts of his operation to come crumbling down?

Thirty years ago, a supernatural apocalypse rendered the world nearly unrecognizable. Incomprehensible beings called Horrors devoured everything they could touch. Gods - originally called to be saviors - tore up bits of reality, sealing it away in their realms, where Humans are allowed to live, but at a price. Absolute loyalty and blind obedience in exchange for safety. Today, those who refuse to bend knee to a God live in what's left of the world; a bleak, harsh wasteland known as No God's Land. It is rife with Horrors and Monsters, but as long as one stays near civilization there is at least a chance of safety. Kitty doesn't like staying near civilization. She is one of the few citizens of No God's Land brave - or stupid - enough to venture away from the protection of mankind. She's grown up in No God's Land, and what so many others find terrifying she sees only as challenging adventures. But even Kitty begins to suspect she's bitten off more than she can chew when an impulsive trip to a God realm gets her involved with a boy named Tyre - a new prophet who seems to have a target on his back. On top of that, Cerberus - guardian of the Greek pantheon's land of death - has appeared, looking for help in recovering Hades from a magical prison before the slowly escaping dead souls can take over the land. Hunted by Gods even as they go in search of one, Kitty and her new companions head into the heart of the unforgiving landscape of No God's Land. Kitty is beginning to think she might actually be in over her head for the first time in her life, and that had better be a good thing - it's already too late to be turning back.

A vivid chronicle of the first blow in the Irish revolution - by the people who were there In 1947 the Bureau of Military History was established by the Irish government to record the experiences of those who took part in the fight for independence. In 1959, the results of this research - including 1,773 'witness statements' - were placed in 83 steel boxes and locked into a strongroom in Government Buildings. Rebels, edited by one of Ireland's top young historians, brings the best of the surviving accounts of the Easter Rising together into a comprehensive, accessible and thrillingly readable telling of that much-debated insurrection, the first in a series of events that brought about Irish independence. From the witnesses' recollections of their schooling and other childhood influences to their accounts of what happened at Easter 1916, Rebels tells this famous story in a new and exhilarating way. 'A remarkable book' Pat Kenny, RTE 'If you want to know what [the Rising] was actually like, then Rebels is a good place to start' Sunday Business Post 'The most moving material concerns the surrender and the aftermath, including imprisonment and the identification and interrogation of key figures in the Rising' Irish Times

On 24 April 1916, as President of the Provisional Government, Patrick Pearse appeared under the GPO Grand Portico on Dublin's O'Connell Street and read aloud the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. Nine days later, he was the first of the rebel leaders to be executed. Pearse was born in Dublin on 11 November 1879, to an English father and an Irish mother. Considered the face of the 1916 Easter Rising, for many he was also its heart. In this definitive biography, using a wealth of primary sources, Dr Ruán O'Donnell establishes as never before the significance of Pearse's activism all across Ireland, as well as his dual roles as Director of Military Operations for the Irish Volunteers and member of the clandestine Military Council of the IRB. On 3 May 1916, Pearse was executed in the Stonebreakers Yard at Kilmainham Gaol, at the age of thirty-six.

The October Horse written by Colleen McCullough and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-11-26 with Fiction categories.

In her new book about the men who were instrumental in establishing the Rome of the Emperors, Colleen McCullough tells the story of a famous love affair and a man whose sheer ability could lead to only one end -- assassination. As The October Horse begins, Gaius Julius Caesar is at the height of his stupendous career. When he becomes embroiled in a civil war between Egypt's King Ptolemy and Queen Cleopatra, he finds himself torn between the fascinations of a remarkable woman and his duty as a Roman. Though he must leave Cleopatra, she remains a force in his life as a lover and as the mother of his only son, who can never inherit Caesar's Roman mantle, and therefore cannot solve his father's greatest dilemma -- who will be Caesar's Roman heir? A hero to all of Rome except to those among his colleagues who see his dictatorial powers as threats to the democratic system they prize so highly, Caesar is determined not to be worshiped as a god or crowned king, but his unique situation conspires to make it seem otherwise. Swearing to bring him down, Caesar's enemies masquerade as friends and loyal supporters while they plot to destroy him. Among them are his cousin and Master of the Horse, Mark Antony, feral and avaricious, priapic and impulsive; Gaius Trebonius, the nobody, who owes him everything; Gaius Cassius, eaten by jealousy; and the two Brutuses, his cousin Decimus, and Marcus, the son of his mistress Servilia, sad victim of his mother and of his uncle Cato, whose daughter he marries. All are in Caesar's debt, all have been raised to high positions, all are outraged by Caesar's autocracy. Caesar must die, they decide, for only when he is dead will Rome return to her old ways, her old republican self. With her extraordinary knowledge of Roman history, Colleen McCullough brings Caesar to life as no one has ever done before and surrounds him with an enormous and vivid cast of historical characters, characters like Cleopatra who call to us from beyond the centuries, for McCullough's genius is to make them live again without losing any of the grandeur that was Rome. Packed with battles on land and sea, with intrigue, love affairs, and murders, the novel moves with amazing speed toward the assassination itself, and then into the ever more complex and dangerous consequences of that act, in which the very fate of Rome is at stake. The October Horse is about one of the world's pivotal eras, relating as it does events that have continued to echo even into our own times.
