A book that examines the unhealthy Struggle Love ideology promoted to black women. Black women are facing a truly unique yet harmful situation within the black community. Has everyone been right about black women needing to open their options? Black women deserve the same love and loyalty that they give, and what the Struggle Love ideology does is ignore the needs of black women and places the focus on loving unhealthy men. It's time that we examine the who, what, and why of the Struggle Love ideology and fight against it. A healthy relationship involves giving and receiving, but the idea promoted is that black women do all the giving and wait until a later time to receive. When low-value males create the standard for love, it is usually based on unrealistic ideas that do not consider the feelings and needs of a black woman. Black women can no longer allow low-value males to feed them poison disguised as love. We need to talk about the dysfunction and fight against it at all costs.

This book exposes the unhealthy Struggle Love ideology promoted to black women from within the black community. Black women are facing a unique situation regarding the odd gender role reversals that are only present in the black community. Black women are fighting to be heard, respected, and loved. The unrealistic demands to perform are taking their toll on black women. Has everyone been right about black women needing to open up their options? Black women deserve the same love and loyalty that they give, and the Struggle Love ideology ignores the needs of black women while encouraging us to love unhealthy men. It's time that we examine the Who, What, and Why of the Struggle Love movement in order to fight against it. A healthy relationship involves giving and receiving, but the idea that is being promoted to black women is that we need to devote all of our efforts to teach grown men to be men and building grown men up while forgetting about ourselves. When low-value men create the standards for love it's usually based on unrealistic ideas. Black women can no longer allow low-value men to feed them poison disguised as love. Black women need to talk about the dysfunction and fight against it at all costs.

The End Of Love written by Eva Illouz and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-15 with Social Science categories.

Western culture has endlessly represented the ways in which love miraculously erupts in people’s lives, the mythical moment in which one knows someone is destined for us, the feverish waiting for a phone call or an email, the thrill that runs down our spine at the mere thought of him or her. Yet, a culture that has so much to say about love is virtually silent on the no less mysterious moments when we avoid falling in love, where we fall out of love, when the one who kept us awake at night now leaves us indifferent, or when we hurry away from those who excited us a few months or even a few hours before. In The End of Love, Eva Illouz documents the multifarious ways in which relationships end. She argues that if modern love was once marked by the freedom to enter sexual and emotional bonds according to one’s will and choice, contemporary love has now become characterized by practices of non-choice, the freedom to withdraw from relationships. Illouz dubs this process by which relationships fade, evaporate, dissolve, and break down “unloving.” While sociology has classically focused on the formation of social bonds, The End of Love makes a powerful case for studying why and how social bonds collapse and dissolve. Particularly striking is the role that capitalism plays in practices of non-choice and “unloving.” The unmaking of social bonds, she argues, is connected to contemporary capitalism which is characterized by practices of non-commitment and non-choice, practices that enable the quick withdrawal from a transaction and the quick realignment of prices and the breaking of loyalties. Unloving and non-choice have in turn a profound impact on society and economics as they explain why people may be having fewer children, increasingly living alone, and having less sex. The End of Love presents a profound and original analysis of the effects of capitalism and consumer culture on personal relationships and of what the dissolution of personal relationships means for capitalism.

'This small book contains multitudes' Marina Warner 'For those who have suffered for and in love, this may prove to be one of the most useful books they will ever read' Nicholas Lezard, Guardian An extraordinary, uncompromising and consoling celebration of a life - through childhood, faith, family, love, friendship, pain and loss - written as its author was facing her own mortality Gillian Rose was a star academic, acclaimed as one of the most dazzling and original thinkers of her time. Told that she had incurable cancer, she found a new way to explore the world and herself. Tender, heartbreakingly honest and written with moments of surprising humour, Love's Work is the exhilarating result. In this short, unforgettable memoir, Rose looks back on her childhood, from the young dyslexic girl, torn between father and stepfather, to the adolescent confronting her Jewish inheritance. As an adult, Gillian Rose proves herself a passionate friend, a searcher for truth, a woman in love and, finally, an exacting but generous patient. Intertwining the personal and the philosophical, Rose meditates on faith, conflict and injustice; the fallibility and endurance of love; our yearning for independence and for connection to others. With droll self-knowledge ('I am highly qualified in unhappy love affairs,' Rose writes) and with unsettling wisdom ('To live, to love, is to be failed'), Love's Work asks the unanswerable question: how is a life best lived?

No Study Without Struggle written by Leigh Patel and has been published by National Geographic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-07-19 with Education categories.

Examines how student protest against structural inequalities on campus pushes academic institutions to reckon with their legacy built on slavery and stolen Indigenous lands Using campus social justice movements as an entry point, Leigh Patel shows how the struggles in higher education often directly challenged the tension between narratives of education as a pathway to improvement and the structural reality of settler colonialism that creates and protects wealth for a select few. Through original research and interviews with activists and organizers from Black Lives Matter, The Black Panther party, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, the Combahee River Collective, and the Young Lords, Patel argues that the struggle on campuses reflect a starting point for higher education to confront settler strategies. She reveals how blurring the histories of slavery and Indigenous removal only traps us in history and perpetuates race, class, and gender inequalities. By acknowledging and challenging settler colonialism, Patel outlines the importance of understanding the relationship between the struggle and study and how this understanding is vital for societal improvement.
