This book is dedicated to all of God’s children who have experienced challenges arising from mental illnesses. I have dealt with individuals afflicted with paranoid schizophrenia, and I have personally recovered from PTSD. Mental illness is a subject we find difficult to talk about due to fear of rejection and fear of loss of respect, as well as the shame associated with the stereotypes many people have inflicted on people suffering from various mental illnesses. There are many people in the church, as well as out of the church, suffering from mental illnesses and are coping with family members with various mental illnesses. The intent of this book is to shed light on the darkness mental illness is inflicting in our American society, as well as the world, and help our understanding and encourage many to believe God can and will deliver/heal many afflicted with various mental illnesses. Many people from all walks of life are talking more openly and hopefully more positive outcomes will be experienced for many.

These are true stories about war zones, genocide, famines and helping those whose lives have been destroyed by unresolved traumas and tragedies. Overcoming them and living a good life is possible if we rise above our circumstances instead of allowing them to control and devastate us. Vivien gathered these stories during her many years as a Christian aid worker with World Vision, which took her to several African countries as well as Central Australia. She has also worked with victims of domestic violence. Vivien was trained as a nursing sister, midwife, and has a post graduate degree in Health Promotion. This book is for people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is for those on the brink of suicide, those who have given up, those crushed by their experiences. Vivien’s hope is that you too can become resilient and continue life’s journey fulfilled, and at peace within yourself.

The spate of recent scandals of power abuse by leaders within the evangelical world suggests something is wrong in our churches. When a leader misuses power, they have misunderstood and misrepresented God and the gospel. This volume addresses the key underlying issue of what a biblical and healthy use of power in the church actually looks like. Authors from a variety of Christian backgrounds and traditions help frame a biblical and theological understanding and practice of power use, describe what it looks like when things go wrong (and how to recognize the signs), and suggest how the contemporary church can and must do better in this area. This book is a rigorously grounded biblical challenge to much contemporary practice. It is a call to reformation. Table of Contents Introduction: Why Another Book on Power and Why Now? Dream Therapy For Ptsd written by Bruce M. Dow MD and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-30 with Psychology categories.

In this series of clinical vignettes, a board-certified psychiatrist and life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association illustrates the effectiveness of dream therapy in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be disabling and difficult to treat, often leading to depression, suicide, and homicide in extreme cases. In this clinical-based reference, acclaimed psychiatrist and neuroscience researcher, Bruce Dow, provides a step-by-step approach for implementing dream revision therapy—a treatment proven to eliminate nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, and other debilitating effects of PTSD. Drawing from work with patients in both military and civilian settings, Dow shows how to utilize imagery rehearsal exercises to help mitigate the effects of the illness. The vast majority of the book's 11 chapters focus on clinical case studies of patients who have suffered under the effects of the disease—for example, a hotel employee who witnesses a gory suicide; a female police officer whose career-ending crash in her patrol car brings back traumatic memories from childhood; and Vietnam combat veterans with recurrent posttraumatic nightmares. Each vignette offers details of the dream revision method along with clinical tips for ensuring its success. The final chapter features descriptions of brain mechanisms of PTSD and dream revision.

Forget Me Not written by Marliss Melton and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-15 with Fiction categories.

The first book in Marliss Melton's SEAL Team Twelve military romantic suspense series offers a riveting look at the hardships faced by both prisoners of war and the families they leave behind--and what happens when they finally come home. Helen Renault has started her life over thinking that her Navy SEAL husband Gabe was dead, but when Gabe returns he seems different and more caring, until the memory of the past three years starts to come back to him. A Hero's Nightmare. Gabe Renault doesn't know why he was in a prison camp. He has no memory of the past three years or of the Navy Seal mission that went wrong. Only two things kept him going: thoughts of his wife and the certainty that he must escape. A Sudden Homecoming. After Gabe is presumed dead, Helen pulls the tattered pieces of her and her daughter's lives back together. Married young and for all the wrong reasons, she's standing on her own two feet at last-and proud of it. Then comes the biggest shock of all--Gabe returns home. Gone is the distant, secretive husband he once was. This new Gabe is a man she could easily, finally, lose her heart to. But his memory is slowly returning, exposing a trail of government treachery...and jeopardizing his and Helen's second chance at love.

Environmental Illness written by Herman Staudenmayer and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-06 with Science categories.

Environmental illness: certain health professionals and clinical ecologists claim it impacts and inhibits 15 percent of the population. Its afflicted are led to believe environmental illness (EI) originates with food, chemicals, and other stimuli in their surroundings -as advocates call for drastic measures to remedy the situation. What if relief proves elusive-and the patient is sent on a course of ongoing, costly and ineffective ""treatment""? Several hundred individuals who believed they were suffering from EI have been evaluated or treated by Herman Staudenmayer since the 1970s. Staudenmayer believed the symptoms harming his patients actually had psychophysiological origins-based more in fear of a hostile world than any suspected toxins contained in the environment. Staudenmayer's years of research, clinical work-and successful care-are now summarized in Environmental Illness: Myth & Reality. Dismissing much of the information that has attempted to defend EI and its culture of victimization, Staudenmayer details the alternative diagnoses and treatments that have helped patients recognize their true conditions-and finally overcome them, often after years of prolonged suffering.
