The Welding Engineer S Guide To Fracture And Fatigue written by Philippa L Moore and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The Welding Engineer's Guide to Fracture and Fatigue provides an essential introduction to fracture and fatigue and the assessment of these failure modes, through to the level of knowledge that would be expected of a qualified welding engineer. Part one covers the basic principles of weld fracture and fatigue. It begins with a review of the design of engineered structures, provides descriptions of typical welding defects and how these defects behave in structures undergoing static and cyclical loading, and explains the range of failure modes. Part two then explains how to detect and assess defects using fitness for service assessment procedures. Throughout, the book assumes no prior knowledge and explains concepts from first principles. - Covers the basic principles of weld fracture and fatigue. - Reviews the design of engineered structures, provides descriptions of typical welding defects and how these defects behave in structures undergoing static and cyclical loading, and explains the range of failure modes. - Explains how to detect and assess defects using fitness for service assessment procedures.

Materials in Marine Technology covers the important aspects of metallurgy and materials engineering which must be taken into account when designing for marine environments. The purpose is to aid materials selection and the incorporation of materials data into the design, manufacture and inspection strategy. Recent advances in materials technology, including the use of new materials for marine applications Alloys, Polymers and Composites are examined in detail. The integrated approach is design oriented and is supported by recent case studies.

Control Of Welding Distortion In Thin Plate Fabrication written by Tom Gray and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02-15 with Science categories.
The intense temperature fields caused by heat sources in welding frequently lead to distortions and residual stresses in the finished product. Welding distortion is a particular problem in fabricating thin plate structures such as ships. Based on pioneering research by the authors, Control of Welding Distortion in Thin-Plate Fabrication reviews distortion test results from trials and shows how outcomes can be modeled computationally. The book provides readers with an understanding of distortion influences and the means to develop distortion-reducing strategies. The book is structured as an integrated treatment. It opens by reviewing the development of computational welding mechanics approaches to distortion. Following chapters describe the industrial context of stiffened plate fabrication and further chapters provide overviews of distortion mechanics and the modeling approach. A chapter on full-scale welding trials is followed by three chapters that develop modeling strategies through thermal process and thermo-mechanical simulations, based on finite-element analysis. Simplified models are a particular feature of these chapters. A final sequence of chapters explores the simulation of welding distortion in butt welding of thin plates and fillet welding of stiffened plate structures, and shows how these models can be used to optimize design and fabrication methods to control distortion. Control of Welding Distortion in Thin-Plate Fabrication is a comprehensive resource for metal fabricators, engineering companies, welders and welding companies, and practicing engineers and academics with an interest in welding mechanics. - Allows practitioners in the field to minimize distortion during the welding of thin plates - Provides computational tools that can give insight into the effects of welding and fabrication procedures - Demonstrates how welding distortion in thin plate fabrications can be minimized through design
Electrical And Magnetic Methods Of Non Destructive Testing

Electrical And Magnetic Methods Of Non Destructive Testing written by J. Blitz and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book is intended to help satisfy an urgent requirement for up-to date comprehensive texts at graduate and senior undergraduate levels on the subjects in non-destructive testing (NDT). The subject matter here is confined to electrical and magnetic methods, with emphasis on the widely used eddy current and magnetic flux leakage methods (including particle inspection), but proper attention is paid to other techniques, such as microwave and AC field applications, which are rapidly growing in importance. Theoretical analyses relating to the various methods are discussed and the depths of presentation are often governed by whether or not the information is readily available elsewhere. Thus, for example, a considerable amount of space is devoted to eddy current theory at what the author considers to be a reasonable standard and not, as usually experienced, in either a too elementary manner or at a level appreciated only by a postgraduate theoretical physicist. The inclusion of the introductory chapter is intended to acquaint the reader with some of the philosophy of NDT and to compare, briefly, the relative performances of the more important methods of testing.

Frontiers In Robotics Research written by Max A. Denket and has been published by Nova Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Robotics began as a science fiction creation which has become quite real, first in assembly line operations such as automobile manufacturing, aeroplane construction etc. They have now reached such areas as the Internet, ever-multiplying-medical uses and sophisticated military applications. Control of today's robots is often remote which requires even more advanced computer vision capabilities as well as sensors and interface techniques. Learning has become crucial for modern robotic systems as well. This book brings together leading research in this exciting field.
