Under krigen flokket politikere, militære, spioner, lykkejegere og tusenvis av politiske flyktninger seg sammen i Stockholm – «Nordens Casablanca» på folkemunne. Minst 50 000 nordmenn søkte tilflukt i det nøytrale Sverige, og myndighetene bygde opp en egen statsadministrasjon med mer enn tusen ansatte. Mens regjeringen satt i London, var den svenske hovedstaden hovedkvarter for kontakten mellom motstandsbevegelsen, norsk etterretning og eksilmyndighetene. Miljøet som oppstod her, var preget av maktkamp og intriger, og ulike holdninger til motstandskampen. Nordens Casablanca samler trådene og gir for første gang en bred presentasjon av det norske eksilmiljøet i Stockholm. Vi møter politikere som Martin Tranmæl og Willy Brandt, Max Manus og andre motstandsfolk, vi får nytt innblikk i en likvidasjon i legasjonens lokaler, og vi kan leve oss inn i Stockholms frodige og stormfulle kunstnermiljø med blant andre Inger Hagerup, Helge Krog og dobbeltagenten og skuespilleren Sonja Wigert. Alf Skjeseth (født 1952) fra Ringsaker er journalist i Klassekampen. Han har vært journalist i Dagbladet og NTB, samfunnsredaktør i Nationen og leder av Norsk Journalistlag. Han har tidligere utgitt boka «Osvald. Storsabotøren Asbjørn Sunde» sammen med Morten Conradi på Spartacus Forlag (2016).

Through the 1940s and 1950s, PAGON (Progressive Architects Group Oslo Norway) was an alliance of young CIAM-affiliated Norwegian architects known for their innovative joint projects. As a group, PAGON went on to become largely overlooked in the history of modern architecture, even though its individual members which included Sverre Fehn, Jørn Utzon, Arne Korsmo, and Christian Norberg-Schulz became defining figures in Scandinavian and international modernism. This book tells the story of PAGON for the first time, offering an impressive account of the group's projects, buildings, and approach, and demonstrating why PAGON's projects are ripe for reappraisal in the international history of modern architecture. It shows how PAGON's architecture constitutes a unique continuity between the Scandinavian functionalism of the late 1930s and the modern movement in the US, and an important transitional stage before the emergence of the better-known neo-avant-garde groups within CIAM and Team 10. Published as part of the Bloomsbury Studies in Modern Architecture series, which brings to light the work of significant yet overlooked modernist architects, this book fills a gap in our understanding of mid-century modern architecture and highlights the internationally diverse nature of the modern movement.

When Germany invaded Norway on 9 April 1940, the long lasting bilateral relations changed fundamentally. Immediately, the administration of the ‘Reichskommissariat Norwegen’ responsible for culture and therein music together with the Norwegian puppet regime’s department for culture implemented the adaption to the new, official National Socialist guidelines. The diversity of music in Norway during the occupation is presented in this book by Norwegian and German authors, confronting research on collaboration, persecution, and resistance for the first time as an international endeavour. The different essays illustrate not only examples of exile and persecution and ask for the consequences of Nazi politics on prominent and forgotten fates, but depict how Norwegian artists and their organisations positioned themselves towards collaboration or resistance during and after the war, as well as contrasting it with the impressions of German musicians, both military and civilian, playing in Norway during the occupation. Including Norway into the international discourse on ‘Music and Nazism’, the articles address readers both interested in the German occupation of Norway, and the implications the German administration and its Norwegian counterparts had on the music life.

Under andre verdenskrig ble mer enn 80 sivile nordmenn likvidert av motstandsbevegelsen. Mange av dem var politimenn, noen var agenter for tyskerne, andre sjåfører, vaskehjelper eller kontoransatte. Denne velskrevne og grundig dokumenterte krigsboken tar deg tett på dramatikken. Det er en fortelling om ofre, gjerningsmenn og motstandsfolk og om de vanskelige valgene de alle måtte ta da det gjaldt som mest. Eivind Sæther er en norsk frilansjournalist og portrettør. Han har vunnet Den store journalistprisen og har vært medforfatter til en rekke sakprosabøker.
