Narciso Zanatta. Trecho do primeiro capítulo do livro

A political classic: the story of dirty campaigning in America from the time of Washington, by the man who monitored it fill time in the 1950’s and 60’s. “The author’s trim style, his eye for appropriate detail, and his refreshing judgments combine to make this book eminently readable." —The Progressive “It should stir voters and legislators out of the stupor which allows them to live with a system that mocks the entire democratic process.” —Christian Science Monitor “An absorbing history of offside campaigning.” —Life

The Postmodern Turn gathers together in one volume some of the most important statements of the postmodern approach to human studies. In addressing postmodern social theory and emphasising the social role of knowledge, this book abandons the disciplinary boundaries separating the sciences and the humanities. The first collection of its kind, it provides the classic essays of authors such as Lyotard, Haraway, Foucault and Rorty. Contributors include well-known theorists in the fields of sociology, anthropology, women's and gay studies, philosophy, and history.

This collection of eight essays by some of today's most innovative and seminal thinkers argues that there is a limit beyond which the enterprise of literary theory becomes something different from what it presents itself as being. These writers ask, in different ways, how theory functions and how it might preserve within its own practices and effects the freedom of reading, the presence of the real, and the challenge of a voice speaking outside the rhetorics of mastery.
