Same as the three previous volumes: The Unavoidable Surgery, Holocaust and Redemption and Coexistence with Hagar's Offspring this book is another chapter in Jewish History and deals also with the old Arab-Israeli conflict. One of the problems is the important controversial issue of Transfer or Arab Deportation. The problem of Transfer of people in order to put an end to more wars and more blood sheds. Unfortunately, many countries had to use this means, including the United States (the Indians, Winfield Scott and the Cherokees, the inhabitants of Marshall Islands in order to enable the Americans to perform their Nuclear Tests, etc.). For several past and present experiences, the Deportation of Ethnic Minorities for the sake of improving the stability of the region was not considered a great violation of Human Rights. A Jewish Government, an Israeli Government that does not operate in this direction is not fulfilling its duties, is not functioning adequately, is betraying its voters and should be replaced. To attain Peace in the Middle East, the Arabs must recognize the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish State and stop their belligerent attitude towards Israel.

E verything has always come easy for Swedish- born and American- raised Hank Oscarson. The Lexington, Kentucky thoroughbred breeder and Derby track veterinarians seems to have it all at the age of thirty- five. All but passion for anything other than horses and expanding his financial empire. Even America’s trail of blood and sacrifice by December 1944 fails to stir patriotism for his adopted country. A half thought- out scheme to slip into Germany’s East Prussia to retrieve a stallion and mare before one of the world’s finest all- around horse breeds vanishes results in Hank being ensnared in a massive refugee flight from attacking Russians. He finds love, raw strength, and burning purpose in one of history’s most dramatic and tragically attempted evacuations of women and children in the midst of war

The first book-length study of Jewish culture and ethnicity in New York City after World War II. Here is an intriguing look at the cause and effect of New York City politics and culture in the 1950s and 1960s and the inner life of one of the city's largest ethnic religious groups. The New York Jewish mystique has always been tied to the , fabric and fortunes of the city, as has the community's social aspirations, political inclinations, and its very notion of "Jewishness" itself. All this, points out Eli Lederhendler, came into question as the life of the city changed. Insightfully and meticulously he explores the decline of secular Jewish ethnic culture, the growth of Jewish religious factions, and the rise of a more assertive ethnocentrism. Using memoirs, essays, news items, and data on suburbanization, religion, and race relations, the book analyzes the decline of the metropolis in the 1960s, increasing clashes between Jews and African Americans. and postwar transiency of neighborhood-based ethnic awareness.

The Real Stars written by Ben Stein and has been published by Hay House, Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-07-01 with Self-Help categories.

Is Barbra Streisand a star? Is Bruce Springsteen a star? Is Sean Penn a star? Are any of the Hollywood players who endlessly complain about America (and make $20 million per picture) and say that America is a racist, imperialist country a star? Ben Stein doesn’t think so. He says that the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States of America and fight for our freedom while risking their lives for $1,500 a month are the real stars. He says the real stars are the ones who fight fires and fight crime and teach autistic children for modest wages. When Ben wrote this in an online essay not too long ago, it became one of the most widely circulated pieces in the history of the Internet. Likewise, when Ben said that he had no idea who Nick and Jessica were and wondered why they got so much media attention, but that he knew for sure that here was no harm in Americans wishing each other Merry Christmas or hanging Christmas wreaths, and that as a Jew, he did not feel at all offended by the celebration of Christmas, his column was circulated to millions. These columns have appeared in The New York Times, on CBS News, in The American Spectator, and on E! Online. Here, Ben has compiled them into a book of commentaries that will help you get your head on straight about what is important in our world today and what is nonsense. You will feel anger, joy, and sadness as you read these essays . . . and you are sure to learn something valuable from all of them.

The Latitude Of Home written by Sally Russell and has been published by Mercer University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

"Coming from a family that some would call addicted to storytelling, Sally Russell began listening nearly twenty years ago, especially for stories that bring the past into the present. The subjects range from love, sex, and death to less weighty considerations such as journeys, building fires, cooking, and a variety of family matters. Beginning with her own family's account of what happened to them during the American Civil War and how those stories directly affected her life 125 years later, Russell shares the discovery of time-traveling through a range of tales that are humorous, historical, haphazard, heart-warming, and heartbreaking, often within the same story." "For Russell, all stories, however personal or cultural, represent shared human history and form an intricate, original, and sheltering tapestry that belongs to all and represents a curious security in our future-shock world. Through beloved old stories and through new ones Russell forms, threads of regret, sorrow, joy, wonder, courage, wisdom, beauty, and some other thing that isn't any of these things - perhaps the greatest mystery - are woven into a fabric that entertains, educates, and delights with scenes of days gone by, portraits of worthwhile people, and events that shape our characters." "Storytelling is an important vehicle by which we bond with each other in multiple dimensions and across generations. The stories she shares show how story-telling gives us a latitude of home, to use an old nautical term, i.e., a reference point on our map of being that shows us where we came from. In a figurative sense, latitude of home is that place/time from which we start. Our stories, our family myths, give us the knowledge of our place in Time. Russell invites readers to consider their own repertoires of stories, what they can learn about and from their own family myth, and how they can share that myth to inform, delight, and strengthen."--BOOK JACKET.
