I have great pleasure in recommending Barnes "Notes" to the Christian public. k From the Rev. Ralph Wardlaw, D.D. I have examined the "Notes" of the Rev. Albert Barnes on a considerable variety of testing passages; and, so far as my examination bus gone, I feel confident in pronouncing them to be characterized, in no ordinary degree, by discriminative judgment, sound theology, unostentatious learning, practical wisdom, and evangelical piety. A boon of greater benefit to the public can not be bestowed than, along with correct and cheap Bibles, to give wide circulation, by cheap editions, to Commentaries on the Bible such as this; and especially in times when the exclusive authority of Holy Scripture, in all matters of faith and practice, requires to be so firmly maintained and universally inculcated.
