With prestige, power, and unthinkable paychecks at his fingertips, his life was perfect... at least on paper. But on the heels of closing a huge deal for the Miami Dolphins, Dale's life took an unfathomable turn. He heard--and heeded--Jesus's call to sell everything he owned and follow him. Thus began a radical quest to live out the words of Jesus--no matter what the cost. In this quick-paced, well-written story, Recinella shares his amazing journey from growing up in the slums of Detroit to racing through "the good life" on Wall Street to finally walking the humble path of God--the path of ministry on death row.

#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A profoundly moving spiritual journey through our system of capital punishment and an unprecedented look at the human consequences of the death penalty • "Stunning moral clarity.” —The Washington Post Book World • Basis for the award-winning major motion picture starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn "Sister Prejean is an excellent writer, direct and honest and unsentimental. . . . She almost palpably extends a hand to her readers.” —The New York Times Book Review In 1982, Sister Helen Prejean became the spiritual advisor to Patrick Sonnier, the convicted killer of two teenagers who was sentenced to die in the electric chair of Louisiana’s Angola State Prison. In the months before Sonnier’s death, the Roman Catholic nun came to know a man who was as terrified as he had once been terrifying. She also came to know the families of the victims and the men whose job it was to execute—men who often harbored doubts about the rightness of what they were doing. Out of that dreadful intimacy comes a profoundly moving spiritual journey through our system of capital punishment. Here Sister Helen confronts both the plight of the condemned and the rage of the bereaved, the fears of a society shattered by violence and the Christian imperative of love. On its original publication in 1993, Dead Man Walking emerged as an unprecedented look at the human consequences of the death penalty. Now, some two decades later, this story—which has inspired a film, a stage play, an opera and a musical album—is more gut-wrenching than ever, stirring deep and life-changing reflection in all who encounter it.

A Washington Post bestseller! A chilling and compassionate look at how close an innocent man was to being put death with a foreword by Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking. What is worse than having a client on Death Row in Texas? Having a client on Death Row in Texas who is innocent and not knowing if you will be able to stop his execution in time. Grace and Justice on Death Row: A Race Against Time to Free an Innocent Man tells the story of Alfred Dewayne Brown, a man who spent over twelve years in prison (ten of them on Texas’ infamous Death Row) for a high-profile crime he did not commit, and his lawyer, Brian Stolarz, who dedicated his career and life to secure his freedom. The book chronicles Brown’s extraordinary journey to freedom against very long odds, overcoming unscrupulous prosecutors, corrupt police, inadequate defense counsel, and a broken criminal justice system. The book examines how a lawyer-client relationship turned into one of brotherhood. Grace And Justice On Death Row also addresses many issues facing the criminal justice system and the death penalty – race, class, adequate defense counsel, and intellectual disability, and proposes reforms. Told from Stolarz’s perspective, this raw, fast-paced look into what it took to save one man’s life will leave you questioning the criminal justice system in this country. It is a story of injustice and redemption that must be told.

I was only a child, ten years of age, when I was first incarcerated in the juvenile prison system. Locked up in a small brick cage with a solid wood door containing a thick, shatterproof glass window. So began the journey that would lead me here – to DEATH ROW. I’m simply just Herminio Serna now, who was “consciously awakened” to this living nightmare of awaiting execution, here on California’s Death Row, in San Quentin State Prison. Incarcerated since August 1991. Condemned to this death in November 1997 after a six year trial. Held in isolation, solitary confinement, while undergoing that sham appearance of a trial. And once condemned I was buried alive here, in a concrete cage, entombed inside the entrails of this beast, inside the infamous Adjustment Center, (San Quentin’s “Hole”/S.H.U.) for another fourteen years. A total of 20 years – two decades of “unusual cruelty.” As if the death penalty wasn’t enough of a punishment!

Death Row prisoner kept caged for 34 years for a crime he had never heard of. Date set for his execution - September 15, 2009. A two-hour painful attempt to inject lethal chemicals fails .....and he walks out alive, saying: 'God saved my life, because I'm innocent of this crime.' Now the State of Ohio wants to kill him. Again. His request for a new legal team has been denied. His case is closed. His voice has never been heard .... until now.'Survivor on Death Row' is his own story. "A horrifying story embracing all the evils of the death penalty. Bad forensics, dodgy DNA, awful lawyers, render this a must-read."Jon Snow, Channel 4 News "The Romell Broom case is yet another example of why the United States should abolish the death penalty immediately. The inherent flaws of the capital punishment system are again exposed in all their horror as we are left to ponder how many other individuals will have to go through this nightmare." Rick Halperin, former Chair, Amnesty International USA "I knew that inept doctors could kill you, but I didn't realize that incompetent lawyers can also get you killed."Sister Helen Prejean ('Dead Man Walking') in 'The Death of Innocents' "There has never been a case when the [United States Supreme] court has accepted that the 'mere' fact that a prisoner is innocent should be a constitutional basis for ordering his release." Clive Stafford Smith, OBE, founder of Reprieve, in 'Injustice'

Step inside the death chamber and behind the walls of Ohio's death row. Bill Kimberlin, Psy.D, invites the reader on an extensive and unbiased journey inside Ohio's death row in WATCH ME DIE: Last Words From Death Row. You will see how these inmates think as Kimberlin not only spends time interviewing them, but also eats meals with them and, in some cases, is the last person to speak with them before they are executed. From the moment they are placed on suicide watch until the moment they are pronounced dead right in front of him, Kimberlin will walk you through the twisted and complex execution process in the state of Ohio. WATCH ME DIE presents an unbiased look at the realities of death row, in Ohio and America as a whole. This book is much more than an argument about the death penalty. Instead, Kimberlin exposes the harsh truth of what it is like to be on death row, counting the days until your own execution, as told to him by those who have lived it. With no physical or mental restraints, Kimberlin's conversations earn the trust of many high-level and violent offenders. He shares with the reader these unfiltered and honest thoughts from people staring in the face of death. Their writings, their artwork, and their own words will put the reader in the room with these dangerous killers. Nothing is off-limits and there is nothing to shield Kimberlin from the same hands that have taken countless lives, leaving Kimberlin himself asking, "Will this be my last trip to death row?" In this newly revised edition of WATCH ME DIE, Bill Kimberlin takes the reader on a more intimate journey into death row than ever before. This edition includes a "Where Are They Now?" section, updating the reader on which inmates have faced their execution, which inmates are still counting their days, and who else has asked Kimberlin to watch them die.
