Translation Studies has been defined in terms of spatial metaphors stressing the need for disciplinary border crossings, with the purpose of borrowing different approaches, orientations and tools from diverse academic fields. Such territorial incursions have resulted in a more thorough exploration of the home province, as this volume is designed to show. The interdisciplinary nature of the venture arises out of the multiplicity of terrains involved and the theoretically motivated definition of the object itself. Translation has been perceived as communication in context, hence the study of translated texts as facts of target cultures means that they need to be investigated within particular situational and sociocultural environments, an enterprise which necessarily requires the collaboration of various disciplines.This volume has grown out of a conference held at the University of Lisbon in November 2002 and collects a selection of papers that focus: on the crossdisciplinarity of Translation Studies, offering new perspectives on the current space of translation; on the importation and redefinition of theories, methodologies and concepts for the study of translation; and on the complex interplay of text and context in translation, creating dynamic interfaces with Sociology, Literary Theory, Cultural Studies, Discourse Analysis, Cultural History, among other disciplines.

Esta edición de la poesía completa de Gabino Alejandro Carriedo, publicada por la Fundación Jorge Guillén -cumpliendo su compromiso de estudiar y difundir la obra de los autores que le donan su legado- en coedición con la Diputación de Palencia, ha sido realizada por Concha Carriedo y Antonio Piedra. El prólogo, a cargo de la profesora Fanny Rubio de la Universidad Complutense, sitúa la personalidad y la obra de Carriedo en el panorama poético de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, y describe las singularidades de este fecundo poeta vanguardista. Al final del volumen, en el apartado "Notas", los editores dan cuenta de la procedencia de cada libro que compone la obra completa y explican los criterios utilizados. La obra se estructura en dos grandes partes. En primer lugar, se ordenan cronológicamente -por orden de escritura- todos los libros de Carriedo, tanto los publicados en vida del poeta como los inéditos que poseen la cohesión evidente o la intención explícita de formar un libro. En segundo lugar, se recogen todos los poemas sueltos de de Gabino- Alejandro Carriedo, inéditos o publicados en revistas o antologías. Se organizan en dos bloques: "Las ubres de Amaltea" -dividido a su vez en cuatro partes que corresponden a las cuatro décadas de labor poética de Carriedo- y "Linternas mágicas", que contienen los poemas escritos en otras lenguas. Las portadillas de todos los libros se ilustran con dibujos inéditos del propio poeta recogidos en su archivo personal.
