Cry of A Nurse tells of my life as a nurse and how I coped with the shortage of nurses. As you read my book you will see why there is a shortage of nurses, what is causing the shortage, and how nurses are coping with it. I want American's as well as the world to see what nurses are going through because of it and what can be done to end the shortages of nurses. I wrote this book to bring out the reality why there is a shortage, to help nurses and encourage all those appointed and anointed by God to become nurses, do not stay away but join the profession you know who you are. Especially if you have a great desire to help the sick. We are there but we do not want to be ignored or taken for granted. We want to be respected and appreciated. Call us and love us, that's all we ask. The Nurses

Nursing is such a fulfilling delight, yet is plagued with stress and frustration mostly because of administrative, economic and political problems. This booklet highlights the fulfillment and joys in the field of nursing, yet also radically pinpoints some areas of needed change. Most issues are presented in poetic forms with a touch of humor to arouse interest as well as to stimulate the thoughts of the readers. Some articles feature the themes during nurses week which is usually celebrated May 6-12. Some readers who are not in the medical field might not understand everything fully but will be able to follow and appreciate what is being presented. . Some nurses may find it mere criticism and somewhat disturbing. Others might want to scoff at the author and wonder ’how daring’. Realistic nurses may welcome the ideas presented and agree, or smile, as the readings arouse the memories of their experiences.

Set in the city of Nanjing during the time of the Sino-Japanese war (1937–1945), this novel tells the story of four people caught up in the violence and tumult of these years: John Winthrop and his MIT classmate, the brilliant Chinese physicist Calvin Ren (Ren Kewen); Judy, Calvin's Chinese-American wife; and the beautiful and determined young woman Chen May. John and Calvin take up positions at Nanjing's National Central University and collaborate on a top-secret project to design and build warplanes to enable the Chinese to defend themselves against Japanese bombers. Meanwhile, John enjoys his new life in Nanjing. He helps the lovely May with her English, falling a little in love with her; he shops for antiques; meets with Chiang Kai-Shek and Madame Chiang; and once attends an evening's entertainment at one of Nanjing's notorious Wine Houses. But when the Japanese invade, there is no safe place in the city. The Japanese murder, torture, and rape indiscriminately. (The invasion and occupation were described by the historian Iris Chang as “the forgotten holocaust.”) May sees her own family killed; John works in a shelter for women and children; Calvin's family flees the city while Calvin, weakened by overwork, stays behind to work on the warplane project. Each tries to survive against the odds. May vows to hunt down the soldier who murders her father. When the war is over, she finds him sweeping Nanjing streets as a war prisoner. The story then ends with the force of an explosion. Vivid and disturbing, Nanjing Never Cries offers a compelling story of the horror of war and the power of love and friendship.

Ever since their daughter Angel became ill with AIDS, Sam and Mary Stone’s home life completely changed, but it’s been especially hard on Mary. When their friends and family reject them, Angel has to drop out of private school, and Mary leaves her career as a cardiologist. Even her husband Sam, the one person Mary thought she could count on for love and support, begins cheating on her with another woman. Those who not so long ago phoned or visited the Stones most every day, now don’t want anything to do with them. Even Angel’s grandmother rejects them. Without support from her husband and friends, Mary does her best to protect her daughter from what has become a nightmare. Mary’s first instinct is to seek help at a highly touted medical center that cares for AIDS patients, but she learns that the center is not what it’s cracked up to be. Mary takes Angel away for a new start, and comes to realize that there’s nothing more important than offering her love and spending time with her daughter. But then another tragedy strikes. This uplifting novel about illness in the family looks at the situation from the side of the caregiver, as it profiles a mother who faces the pain that any parent would feel when her child is ill.
