Tämä sanakirja perustuu Heikki ja Marjatta Paunosen Stadin slangin suursanakirjaan Tsennaaks Stadii, bonjaaks slangii (2000), josta he saivat vuonna 2001 Tieto-Finlandia-palkinnon. Hakusanoina ovat yleiskielen sanat, kuten tyttö ja tyhmä. Joka sanan kohdalla on mainittu kaikki siitä Stadin slangissa käytetyt vastineet käyttöaikoineen. Hakusanoja on yhteensä yli 11 000. Slangi ei ole koskaan ollut sosiaalisesti korrektia kieltä. "Mikään luonnollinen ei ole häpeällistä", teroitti professori Matti Kuusi opiskelijoilleen 1960-luvulla. Tämä periaate on ohjannut Heikki Paunosta slanginkeruussakin. Tässäkään kirjassa mitään ei ole sensuroitu. Tämä kirja on myös opas Helsingin kaupunki- ja kulttuurihistoriaan yli sadan vuoden ajalta. Siitä löytyy niin 1900-luvun alkupuolen kengänkiillottajapoikien, blankkareiden ja jynssäreiden, kuin sata vuotta myöhempien graffitintekijöiden, peinttaajien ja kyhääjien, käyttämät sanat.
