Os dois ultimos titulos ficarao para sempre associados as circunstancias conturbadas que envolveram a sua concepcao — «Netotchka Nezvanova», originalmente projectado por Dostoievski para ser um romance, foi abruptamente interrompido pela prisao do autor, que so anos mais tarde o viria a concluir, com grandes alteracoes, e optando por transforma-lo num conto; «O Pequeno Heroi» foi escrito durante o encarceramento na cela solitaria da Fortaleza de Pedro e Paulo.
