Durante alguns anos no terceiro quarto do Século XX, parte da Argentina foi cenário do acordo delinquente entre fugitivos do Terceiro Reich, militares nativos e mercenários do tráfico de drogas. Celebrado em Bahía Blanca para implantar um microcosmo nazista nos trópicos, o plano se baseava nas teses da supremacia racial e imposição de uma ditadura, tomando de assalto o governo democrático pelas armas. O acerto envolvendo salteadores, traficantes e nazistas escapistas transmutou a soberania popular numa interminável caminhada de repres - são, sem prazo de validade. Parte da população — enfeitiçada por medos e alucinações, como o prisioneiro que se afeiçoa ao sequestrador — foi nivelada na corrupção e no terror, que alienava consciências e a mantinha encabrestada, sem reação para a retomada do governo civil. A soberania popular definhou na simbiose do autoritarismo com a supremacia racial, num encanto de fanáticos convertidos sem discutir o próprio destino. A usurpação dos direitos encontrou reação em alguns resistentes, dentre eles, Shamir Gabay, um jornalista de origem judaica que se coloca como principal opositor aos líderes do Pacto Berghof, o abrigo de corrup - tos lambuzados com nazistas de segunda linha, comandados por Rudolph Hiskell, um general que se albergou na Argentina sob a alcunha de Joseph Klauss Konrad, o JKK, para fundar um “Estado Puro” — o ambiente onde a teoria da supremacia racial seria testada nos piores instin - tos. No combate desigual para desenterrar o passado, Shamir Gabay afrontará os assassinos de Rachel Gabay e Benjamin Faivel, os pais judeus de origem, enlaçados na repressão liderada pelo ditador Otero Cardeal e pelo ódio manietado no desejo de poder.
