De acordo com o livro de Vassilyeva e Nekrasova, o Vala Melkor não era originalmente o Grande Inimigo da Terra-média, mas sim um sábio Professor e um mártir, enquanto que o Criador Eru Ilúvatar e os Valar são representados como tiranos sem remorso. Melkor tentou atuar em Arda de acordo com seu próprio pensamento, mas isto era contra a vontade do Criador. O conflito entre Ilúvatar e Melkor causou a expulsão de Melkor causou a expulsão de Melkor e a batalha deste contra Eru e os Valar.
