Durante muitos anos Dr. Pickering quis crer que entre as muitas centenas de manuscritos gregos do Novo Testamento por nós conhecidos, certamente Deus teria preservado a redação original. Após anos de pesquisa e comparação de manuscritos, ele chegou à conclusão de que Deus utilizou uma certa linha de transmissão para preservar essa redação. Essa linha é de longe a maior e a mais coesa (internamente consistente) de todos os grupos, ou famílias, de manuscritos. Ela se distingue de todas as demais linhas pelo elevado nível de cuidado com que foi copiado. (Dr. Pickering possui cópias de manuscritos perfeitos para 22 dos 27 livros do Novo Testamento.) Essa linha é tanto antiga como independente, e é a única que tem uma forma arquetípica demonstrável para todos os 27 livros. Essa forma arquetípica foi identificada objetivamente através de uma ampla comparação de representantes da família, e ela deveras é livre de erro. Não foi surpresa verificar que esse Texto sem erro não difere de forma séria de alguns outros testos gregos ‘bons’. Mesmo assim, ele achou por bem traduzir esse Texto para o português.
