Excerpt from Oak Lawn Grange Cook Book Recipes: Recipes Furnished by the Sisters and Friends of Oak Lawn Grange, No; 42 Meat Pie. Cut a pound of round steak into bits, add sufficient water to cover and cook slowly until tender. When half done add 1 large onion sliced and 1/2 dozen medium sized potatoes cut in dice. Thicken with flour, season. Remove to an eartheaware dish and cover with following crust: For each teacup of flour, 1 level teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon shortening, salt. Rub together until thoroughly mixed, add sufficient sweet milk to well moisten and roll out to fit dish. Bake in hot oven. About 3 cups of flour will be sufficient to cover this quantity. Mrs. G. D. Thompson. Beef Roll With Tomato Sauce. Chop 1 pound round steak very fine and season with 1 teaspoon Bell's poultry dressing, pepper and celery salt, 2 tablespoons melted butter. Mix with 1 beaten egg and form into a roll. Lay on buttered pan and bake 1/2 hour, basting frequently. Serve with following sauce: Melt a rounding tablespoon of butter and stir in the same of flour. When blended smoothly add a cup of sifted tomato. Cook 5 minutes, season with salt, pepper and onion juice. Mrs. George Thompson. Sausage.
