The Workshop Reader which contains the reports from the workshops has beenasubstantialpartoftheECOOPconferenceformorethan10years.During the pre-conference phase the workshop organizers are invited to author a report about their workshops where they have the opportunity to describe the state of the art,the discussionsandthe trends inthe ?elds oftheirworkshop.Inaddition some of the organizational aspects may be discussed. This volume collects 19 reports from high-quality workshops whose topics were related to selected aspects in the ?eld of object-oriented programming and technology. Following the example of previous workshop readers we introduced some notions in order to establish thematic clusters. These notions are (1) P- gramming Languages, (2) Aspects, (3) Formal Techniques, Roles, Components, (4) Software Engineering, and (5) Applications. Three months after the conference we are now able to present the reports which describe the state of the art, the discussions and the relevant trends in the research ?elds addressed by the workshops. In sum, each of these reports thus contributes to a panoptic overview of the current tendencies in the lively ?eld of object-oriented programming and technology. Readers from academia and industry who want to be informed about the current developments in this research area thus can highly pro?t from this volume.

Many SaaS providers nowadays want to leverage the cloud’s capabilities also for their existing applications, for example, to enable sound scalability and cost-effectiveness. This thesis provides the approach CloudMIG that supports SaaS providers to migrate those applications to IaaS and PaaS-based cloud environments. CloudMIG consists of a step-by-step process and focuses on two core components. (1) Restrictions imposed by specific cloud environments (so-called cloud environment constraints (CECs)), such as a limited file system access or forbidden method calls, can be validated by an automatic conformance checking approach. (2) A cloud deployment option (CDO) determines which cloud environment, cloud resource types, deployment architecture, and runtime reconfiguration rules for exploiting a cloud’s elasticity should be used. The implied performance and costs can differ in orders of magnitude. CDOs can be automatically optimized with the help of our simulation-based genetic algorithm CDOXplorer. Extensive lab experiments and an experiment in an industrial context show CloudMIG’s applicability and the excellent performance of its two core components.

Ontologies are increasingly recognized as essential tools in information science. Although the concepts are well understood theoretically , the practical implementation of ontologies remains challenging. In this book, researchers in computer science, information systems, ontology engineering, urban planning and design, civil and building engineering, and architecture present an interdisciplinary study of ontology engineering and its application in urban development projects. The first part of the book introduces the general notion of ontology, describing variations in abstraction level, coverage, and formality. It also discusses the use of ontologies to achieve interoperability, and to represent multiple points of view and multilingualism. This is illustrated with examples from the urban domain. The second part is specific to urban development. It covers spatial and geographical knowledge representation, the creation of urban ontologies from various knowledge sources, the interconnection of urban models and the interaction between standards and domain models. The third part presents case studies of the development of ontologies for urban mobility, urban morphological processes, road systems, and cultural heritage.
