Segundo tomo de los diez que reúnen las Obras completas de José Ortega y Gasset, la mayor compilación de los textos del filósofo presentada hasta la fecha. Los primeros seis tomos de estas Obras completas de José Ortega y Gasset reúnen las obras publicadas por el propio Ortega, incluidos muchos textos cuya primera reimpresión se ofrece ahora. Los cuatro tomos siguientes incorporan aquellos textos que habían quedado inéditos a su muerte, muchos de los cuales ven la luz por primera vez. Para la fijación del texto de los seis primeros volúmenes se ha realizado una notable labor de investigación, que ha permitido recuperar numerosos artículos todavía dispersos en diarios y revistas, así como seleccionar las ediciones pertinentes para el cotejo, a fin de depurar el texto de erratas perpetuadas en ediciones anteriores e identificar sustanciales variantes, que se muestran en el apéndice. A modo de despedida de su juventud, Ortega recopiló en 1916 algunos de los textos que había publicado entre 1904 y 1912. Tituló el volumen Personas, obras, cosas . Ese mismo año inició una de sus aventuras intelectuales más sugerentes, El Espectador , un proyecto que se tradujo en ocho volúmenes entre esta fecha y 1934. En ellos, incluye ensayos que tratan una enorme variedad de asuntos, desde la crítica literaria y de arte o el comentario político, a la expresión dealgunos de los conceptos fundamentales de su filosofía, la descripción de un paisaje o la meditación sobre el amor. El tomo II recoge, además, los artículos que publicó en 1916.

This volume is the result of an international conference held at Sapienza University of Rome in June 2014, which brought together scholars from different countries to re-analyse and re-interpret the events of the First World War, one hundred years after a young Bosnian Serb student from the “Mlada Bosna,” Gavrilo Princip, “lit the fuse” and ignited the conflict which was to forever change the world. The Great War – initially on a European and then on a world scale – demonstrated the fragility of the international system of the European balance of powers, and determined the dissolution of the great multinational empires and the need to redraw the map of Europe according to the principles of national sovereignty. This book provides new insights into theories of this conflict, and is characterized by internationality, interdisciplinarity and a combination of different research methods. The contributions, based on archival documents from various different countries, international and local historiography, and on the analysis of newspaper articles, postcards, propaganda material, memorials and school books, examine the role of intellectuals and artists in the conflict, the issue of minorities and nationalities, the economy, and international relations and politics, in addition to specific case studies such as Russia and the Ottoman Empire, the Caucasus and the Middle East.

Taking into account politics, history, and aesthetics, this edited volume explores the main expressions of primitivism in Iberian and Transatlantic modernisms. Chapters also examine the patterns and paradoxes associated with the manifestations of primitivism, including their local implications and cosmopolitan drive.
