Excerpt from Occult Phenomena in the Light of Theology E number of books that have in recent years been ten on the subject of occultism is very large indeed, and the number of its adherents and of the periodicals concerned with it grows continually; this is a sign that it has become a serious problem, one which disturbs men's souls like a spiritual epidemic. Professor F eldmann, to whom the writer is obliged for many valuable suggestions, states in his Okkulte Philosophie that a second-hand bookseller in Munich sent him a catalogue of books on occult sciences consisting of four volumes, each of which contained between 600 and 800 titles. A number of firms are engaged in the printing and distribution of publica tions on the occult both at home and abroad. The causes of this general widespread interest reside first of all in the great hunger for the preternatural which the various philosophical systems are unable to assuage, however high-sounding their names; this epidemic, however, is also a violent reaction against the materialism which holds matter to be the sole reality and the mother of all living things, which assumes no difference between spirit and matter, and refers to man simply as a digestive tract open at both ends. The religion of Christ satisfies this hunger; but many have forsaken God, the fountain of living water, and have built unto themselves cisterns that hold no water (jer. 2. I 3) They have no knowledge of the means of salvation, and, although they consider themselves educated, are ignorant of Christian doctrine. They stand in particular fear of the Catholic Church because of her moral code, live like heathens and are ready to accept any superstition that in some slight way promises to lead them beyond the material. Metanoia: A Catholic Book Series, Book Number Two: Prayer and the Tingling Grace (Second Edition) is the author’s second publication in a series of Catholic books. In Prayer and the Tingling Grace (Second Edition), the author sets forth his experience with what he calls the tingling grace. The tingling grace is a “grace of prayer,” according to one of the author’s past confessors, a Carmelite priest. As such, it has most commonly been experienced by novice monks and nuns, during prayer. However, according to the Carmelite priest, about five percent of lay Catholics also experience it. In the pages that follow, the author recounts his understanding of and experiences with the tingling grace, a sensible manifestation of actual grace given by a loving and guiding God to encourage the performance of salvific and salutary acts, such as prayer, blessings, frequenting the sacraments, spiritual reading, spiritual and corporeal works of mercy, and discernment of one's vocation. He is publishing it to testify and/or witness to this amazing actual grace and God’s love, sanctification, and guidance of ordinary Catholics, in light of the current crisis of faith inside and outside the Church. Finally, this book is part of the author’s lay apostolate of Roman Catholic witness to the reality, power, and transforming/saving Love of God, as well as the author’s response to and promotion of the Church’s “universal call to holiness” (Lumen Gentium) and the “new evangelization” (Novo Millenio Ineunte), in the electronically and globally connected virtual world of the Internet.

In the 1990s alone, more than 400 works on angels were published, adding to an already burgeoning genre. Throughout the centuries angels have been featured in, among others, theological works on scripture; studies in comparative religions; works on art, architecture and music; philological studies; philosophical, sociological, anthropological, archeological and psychological works; and even a psychoanalytical study of the implications that our understanding of angels has for our understanding of sexual differences. This bibliography lists 4,355 works alphabetically by author. Each entry contains a source for the reference, often a Library of Congress call number followed by the name of a university that holds the work. More than 750 of the entries are annotated. Extensive indexes to names, subjects and centuries provide further utility.

Religion Philosophy And Knowledge written by Gregory W. Dawes and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-11-07 with Philosophy categories.

This book offers a philosophical approach to religion that acknowledges both the diversity of religions and the many and varied dimensions of the religious life. Rather than restricting itself to Christian theism, it covers a wide range of religious traditions, examining their beliefs in the context of the actual practice of the religious life. After outlining the aims of religion, the book focuses on claims to knowledge. What kinds of knowledge do religions purport to offer? In what idiom is it couched? From what sources do devotees draw their claims to knowledge? Are these sources reliable? Rather than trying to settle age-old questions about religious belief, the book offers its readers a set of criteria with which they can make informed decisions in matters of faith.

Satan S Counterfeit Healing written by Lawrence E. Burkholder and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-30 with Religion categories.

"The Christian church worldwide has been taken prisoner by Satan's counterfeit healing." This statement is based on the author's personal experience, modest exposure to the Toronto Blessing, observation of parachurch healing ministries, and extensive historical reconstructions. Satan's Counterfeit Healing presents and evaluates Satan's supernatural healing from the Paleolithic period (ca. 45000 BCE) to the contemporary church. The guiding thesis is that Satan and his demonic surrogates perform miracles which are evident as psi paranormal phenomena. These manifestations include physical and exorcistic supernatural healings. Paleolithic and Neolithic periods produced Great Mother goddess worship and healing, which have persisted ever since. These idolatries, combined with OT nature gods, were a backdrop to Jesus' true miracles. For two thousand years of church history there's been a tug-of-war between true and false healing. Mother goddess as Mariological shrine healing joined with natural and demonic magic, and esoteric energy psi. Alongside these the Holy Spirit has raised up genuine healers and their ministries. Modern healing is marked by energy counterfeits and faith healing, the latter especially accompanied by trance, false prophecy, and psi transformations. True divine healing can be recovered when Christians repudiate nature gods, reject false prophecy, and restore proper eschatology.
