Greece’s economy has been outpacing the euro area average since 2021. Support measures protected households and businesses against high inflation, while public debt declined significantly. Growing disbursements of the Recovery and Resilience Funds, continuous employment gains and disinflation, and recent structural reforms are all expected to support growth. However, significant challenges lie ahead. Sustaining primary surpluses and preserving public investment are essential to maintain the debt-to-GDP ratio on a firmly declining path. This requires shifting the structure of public spending towards investment, lowering tax expenditures and tackling tax evasion further, building on recent progress. Strengthened vocational education and training, as well as better recognising prior learning and developing childcare capacity, are needed to mobilise larger parts of the working-age population and ease high labour shortages and skill mismatches. Boosting the rising, yet still relatively low level of labour productivity and investment while decoupling of emissions from activity and adapting to climate change are key to achieve sustainable rise in living standards. Further strengthening competition, reducing the regulatory burden and improving access to skills and financing would support firm growth and innovation. A mix of investment, regulations and emission pricing would help achieving net zero emissions by 2050. SPECIAL FEATURE: BOOSTING FIRM GROWTH AND INNOVATION

Regions across the OECD face a range of labour market challenges and are undergoing a significant transformation. An ageing workforce, low labour productivity growth, persistent regional disparities, pervasive labour shortages, and new technologies will require both people and places to undergo transitions. This report, Job Creation and Local Economic Development 2024: The Geography of Generative AI, examines the health of regional and local labour markets, including through new estimates on regional labour shortages and their drivers. New tools and technologies, such as Generative AI, could help policymakers address these challenges and seize new opportunities for job creation and local economic growth. This report provides novel evidence of the geography of the impact of Generative AI on jobs across the OECD. It examines which places within countries and types of workers are most exposed to Generative AI and contrasts this with the labour market impact of past waves of technologies that drove automation. Finally, it discusses local and place-based actions and policies for seizing the benefits of Generative AI, such as boosting productivity, mitigating labour shortages and demographic change, as well as for mitigating risks of job displacement.

Reimagining how digital technologies are integrated into education is crucial for fostering active and meaningful student engagement. By focusing on how students actively engage with digital tools to meet academic and developmental goals, educators can create richer, more effective learning experiences. This shift not only enhances academic outcomes but also prepares students with the critical skills needed to navigate and contribute to an increasingly digital world. Cases on Enhancing P-16 Student Engagement With Digital Technologies features cases of teaching and learning with digital technologies in P-16 educational settings, focusing specifically on what learners do with technology. It shares cases of teaching in which technologies are leveraged in student-centered ways that transform learning and allow students to engage in authentic, meaningful learning experiences. Covering topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), immersive learning experiences, and traditional learning, this book is an excellent resource for P-16 educators, leaders, stakeholders, policymakers, and more.

Generative Ai And Education written by B. Mairéad Pratschke and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-27 with Education categories.

This volume addresses the gap in knowledge around generative AI and its applications in education. It draws on the recent history of technological innovation and digital pedagogies, locating generative AI in the contemporary discourse around education futures. It argues that a new hybrid model of education is emerging, requiring educational institutions to embed generative AI into course and programme design, delivery and assessment. It also proposes a shift from a focus on learning as output to learning as a process, and explores what that shift might look like. Grounded in educational theory, it offers actionable pedagogy-informed guidance on how to position AI as a collaborator in the construction of learning in a manner that is congruent with the values and aims of education. It offers advice based on evidence-based digital pedagogy, including frameworks for effective teaching and learning with generative AI, that enable educators and designers to put these ideas into practice. The book also explores the wider context informing this shift, connecting narratives from governments and industry leaders on the strategic importance of generative AI and lifelong learning, learning agility, and future skills that make the case for the integration of competency-based assessment into mainstream education. Finally, going beyond pedagogy and practice, it considers of some of the broader issues, including limitations and ethics, and the implications of integrating generative AI into institutional planning and design, and includes a sample roadmap for education leaders to start the process of integrating generative AI into their institutions. This work approaches the topic of generative AI from the vantage point of educators by addressing themes and concerns that will resonate with professionals in the sector.

The 2024 edition of Health at a Glance: Europe examines the major challenges facing European health systems in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The report includes two thematic chapters. The first chapter provides a comprehensive examination of health workforce shortages in Europe, a long-standing problem exacerbated by the immense strain the pandemic placed on health systems. It explores the factors behind these shortages and proposes policy strategies to attract, train and retain the workforce needed to build resilient health systems. The second chapter reviews the most recent trends in the health of Europe’s ageing population. With life expectancy continuing to rise and the share of the population over 65 growing steadily, the chapter discusses priorities to promote healthy longevity to reduce demands on health and long-term care systems. The remaining chapters provide a comparative overview of the latest data on health status, risk factors and health system performance across the 27 EU member states, 9 EU candidate countries, 3 European Free Trade Association countries and the United Kingdom. Health at a Glance: Europe 2024 is the first step in the State of Health in the EU cycle.
