Traveling, a passion of this author, has prompted me to share my experiences with others, especially senior readers. This group of people, of which I am a part, has not always been privileged to take time out to travel, for various reasons. Granted, it is an expensive venture, or hobby, however, it is great fun, adventurous and a wonderful opportunity to meet people of different cultures and living standards. As creatures of habit, we love to stay put and seldom find interest in leaving home, regardless of the occasion. This book, "The Vagabonds", tells the story of the travels and adventures of a couple, husband and wife, who truly love to travel. It encompasses places here, in the United States of America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada, South America, New Zealand, Australia and many other places, including various islands and villages. This author is confident that this story will capture your attention and imagination. Surely you will be anxious to share it with relatives and friends. Once you've read this book, it will be as though you have taken the venture with us. My mission, and hope, is that more seniors will become interested and venture out on cruises, or other modes of travel, to places they have never trod before. Forget about Disneyland for a while. Be a "Vagabond" at least once in your life. My wife, Frances J., is the cruise mistress. She started me on the cruise circuit instead of land touring. This author sailed for twenty years, while in the U. S. Navy, and thought sea life was over for me. If anything, I should be thankful that my wife loves to sail, because we cruise together, as often as we can, and it is such a relaxing mode of travel. She inspired me to undertake this work, and is my personal editor. Her inspiration is very infectious. It was a success.

Fellow Travelers written by James Cook and has been published by Open Road Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-06-02 with Fiction categories.

Fellow Travelers is the story of the women in the brothers lives: Katya, the peasant girl Victor rescues from the streets of Moscow; Tania, the communist party functionary who eventually becomes his wife; and Yelena, the singer and cabaret entertainer Manny marries and ultimately destroys. Though the story centers on the rivalry between the two brothers, it also reflects the ambitions of their father, a millionaire co-founder of the American Communist Party; his suffragist wife Eva; and Eva’s son Eddie, a professional labor organizer and committed defender of workers’ rights. Spread across 50 years of history, the scene ranges from the mining camps of Siberia to the opulent mansions of post-revolutionary Moscow, from the political turmoil of New York in the early years of the century to the corporate affluence of postwar America.

Sleeping With Strangers written by Jeremiah Allen and has been published by Northbound Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08 with categories.

In Sleeping with Strangers, the discernable, observant, and overly daring Jeremiah Allen takes readers across the world, hitchhiking through rural Africa, on endless train rides through bustling India, on foot through the Himalaya, traveling by rickshaw in Thailand, by boat in Laos, and ferries in Vietnam. In the course of his epic and enlightening journey tramping the globe, Allen endures danger, delay, and dismaying circumstances. In his journey, Allen does what he fears most: to have complete ownership over his fears. Setting out without a planned itinerary, the intrepid Allen gauges human psyches by placing himself in uncomfortable situations. Talking with local Africans, Indians, Nepalese, Thai, Laotians, and Vietnamese, as well as other travelers who are like himself, he meticulously tells the tale of human psychology, history, politics, and beauty that exists in a developing world in the midst of globalization. Witness to it all, Allen experiences adventures that only those with a true sense of the word can share. Brimming with his signature humor and knack for observations, this engrossing chronicle is entertaining reading for both the ardent adventurer and the armchair traveler.

Travel writing, migrant writing, exile writing, expatriate writing, and even the fictional travelling protagonists that emerge in literary works from around the globe, have historically tended to depict mobility as a masculine phenomenon. The presence of such genres in women’s writing, however, poses a rich and unique body of work. This volume examines the texts of Francophone women who have experienced or reflected upon the experience of transnational movement. Due to the particularity of their relationship to home, and the consequent impact of this on their experience of displacement, the study of women's mobility opens up new questions in our understanding of the movement from place to place, and in our broader understanding of colonial and postcolonial worlds. Addressing the proximities and overlaps that exist between the experiences of women exiles, migrants, expatriates and travellers, the collected essays in this book seek to challenge the usefulness, relevance or validity of such terms for conceptualising today’s complex patterns of transnational mobility and the gendered identities produced therein.

Fellow Travelers written by John Ochoa and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-23 with categories.

Road trips loom large in the American imagination, and stories from the road have been central to crafting national identities across North and South America. Tales of traversing this vast geography, with its singular landscape, have helped foster a sense of American exceptionalism. Examining three turning points that shaped exceptionalism in both Americas--the late colonial and early Republican period, expansion into the frontier, and the Cold War--John Ochoa pursues literary travelers across landscapes and centuries. At each historical crossroads, the nations of North and South invented or reinvented themselves in the shadow of empire. Travel accounts from these periods offered master narratives that shaped the notion of America's postimperial future. Fellow Travelers recounts the complex, on-the-road relationships between travelers such as Lewis and Clark, Alexander von Humboldt and Aimeì Bonpland, Huckleberry Finn and Jim, Kerouac's Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty, and the Che Guevara and Alberto Granado of The Motorcycle Diaries. Such journeys reflect concerns far larger than their characters: tensions between the voices of the rugged individual and the democratic many, between the metropolis and the backcountry, and between the intimate and the vast. Working across national literatures, Fellow Travelers offers insight into a shared process of national reinvention and the construction of modern national imaginaries.
