Johnny Jewel works as a cowboy but his ambition is to be an aviator and he spends much of his time studying and dreaming about flying. Johnny learns of a damaged plane abandoned in the desert on the Mexican side of the border, and comes up with a plan to put it to work. His affairs are being monitored by Mary V, the ranch owner's spunky daughter, who is slowly taking interest in Johnny. But in the meantime, a gang of rustlers are taking advantage of his passion for flying in order to distract him from his job of keeping an eye over the ranch's horses. The Thunder Bird is a sequel of Johnny Jewel's story and it looks like our heroes didn't learn their lessons, as Johnny seems more stubborn and Mary V more spoiled. Johnny is determined to pay his debt before going back to the ranch and to Mary V, but this time his affairs take a foray into an international intrigue. Bertha Muzzy Bower (1871-1940) was an American author who wrote novels and short stories about the American Old West. She is best known for her first novel "Chip of the Flying U" about Flying U Ranch and the "Happy Family" of cowboys who lived there. The novel rocketed Bower to fame, and she wrote an entire series of novels set at the Flying U Ranch. Several of Bower's novels were turned into films.

In a place called thunder creek, two wary hearts are about to get a second chance at love. When Katy Templeton fled her small Wyoming town and its painful memories, she thought she’d said good-bye to Thunder Creek forever. But now the prodigal daughter has come home. Home to the relentless ghosts of the past. Home to Jackson Brent, the lean, hard cowboy with the lazy smile--and the last person on earth she ever wanted to lay eyes on again. The coltish beauty blossomed into a stunning woman, burned by love yet unafraid to take on the whole town to get justice for her family. Katy blames him for her beloved brother’s death, but as she digs for answers about that fateful day fourteen years earlier, there is someone ready to kill to keep her from getting them--and Jackson might be the only one who can save her. He wants her safe--and in his arms, but Katy can’t rest until she discovers the truth. Fighting her red-hot attraction to Jackson, Katy risks everything--even the yearnings of her own heart--to unravel the truth about her brother’s death.

A sweeping account of Medieval North America when Indigenous peoples confronted climate change. Few Americans today are aware of one of the most consequential periods in ancient North American history-the Medieval Warm Period of seven to twelve centuries ago (AD 800-1300 CE). On every page of this book, readers will be led down the same paths walked by Indigenous people a millennium ago, some trod by Spanish conquistadors just a few centuries later. The book will follow the footsteps of priests, pilgrims, traders, and farmers who took great journeys, made remarkable pilgrimages, and migrated long distances to new lands. Along the way, readers will discover a new history of a continent that, like today, was being shaped by climate change-or controlled by ancient gods of wind and water. Through such elemental powers, the history of Medieval America was a physical narrative, a long-term natural and cultural experience in which Native people were entwined long before Christopher Columbus arrived or Hernan Cortes conquered the Aztecs. The book's dozen chapters cover a lot of ground, focusing on some remarkable parallels between pre-contact American civilizations separated by a thousand miles or more. Key archaeological sites are featured in every chapter, all of which link in an evidentiary trail a great religious movement that swept Mesoamerica, the Southwest, and the Mississippi valley, sometimes because of worsening living conditions and sometimes by improved agricultural yields thanks to global warming a thousand years ago.

They hold off over 700 braves for five days in the fight at Adobe Walls. From then on, the U.S. Army would not rest until the Indians of the Staked Plain returned to their reservations. Under the command of Colonel Ranald Slidell Mackenzie, Seamus Donegan rides back to that embattled land as the U.S. Army tracks the tribes of Chief Quanan Parker to Palo Duro canyon--for a bloody showdown that would forever change the face of the West.

Raising Thunder is about a nonreleasable, shot, and rehabilitated bald eagle that I worked with, trained, and traveled with, doing environmental education programs throughout the Eastern US for twenty-one years. The cover pic is of us at the US Capitol where we were meeting with the US Senate in the swamp where Thunder was named the poster child symbol that represented the success of the federal Endangered Species Act. We shared living quarters as we traveled.

Norse myths are chock full of stories of heroism, gods, giants, and dwarfs, along with strong elements of shamanism, pagan ritual, sorcery, and shape-changing. With commentary by Maria Kvilhaug, this volume two book is a collection of Old Norse medieval texts concerning the gods Thor and Loki. It contains translations of six Edda poems, three Skaldic poems, and all the relevant passages from Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda. Maria's ability to use her skills in philology shines a light on the texts as she extracts hidden meaning from the lore. Discover the myths that uncover a strong root to animistic understandings of the world in which these stories were told, revealing an old world that was filled with elements of shape-shifting, sorcery, and shamanistic style practices to our current, new world.
