Over time, many couples have bounced back from a vast range of seemly irreversible problems such as unresolved conflicts, extramarital affairs, lack of intimacy, excessive quarrels, insufficient and ineffective communication, inadequate quality of time spent together due to busy schedules, suffocating partners, children issues, trial separation and many more complex and difficult situations. With absolute trust in God, following biblical principles and spiritual counseling coupled with prayer; virtually, anyone can have the marriage of their dreams. By God's grace and through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the author instructs through this compendium on Principles of Christian Marriage and Family Life about how to resolve your matrimonial problems and have a marital life of heaven on earth.

Christian tradition often seems to give only grudging approval to the married life, particularly its sexual aspect. In these sermons of St John Chrysostom we find an important corrective to this view. Although himself a monk, Chrysostom had a profound understanding of the needs of his congregation. Inspired by the epistles to the Corinthians and Ephesians, he discusses the reasons God instituted marriage: primarily to promote holiness of the husband and wife, and only secondarily to produce children. Chrysostom goes on to discuss sexual relations, the mutual responsibilities of marriage, and parenting. While parts of Chrysostom's sermons may seem limited to his own time, the vast majority of his advice has timeless relevance for the Christian family. Inspired by the epistles of St Paul, St John Chrysostom has many important and practical things to say to Christian couples and families.

The purpose of A Catechism for Family Life: Insights from Catholic Teaching on Love, Marriage, Sex, and Parenting is to present the teachings of the Catholic Church as they relate to specific questions in marriage and family life. Many Catholics are under-catechized and have trouble both understanding and articulating Church teaching on sexuality and marriage to an increasingly challenging culture. Pope Francis, along with the fathers of the two recent Synods on the Family, have called for better formation for those who work in the area of marriage and family life (see Amoris Laetitia, 202). To address this need, we gathered pertinent questions facing men, women, and pastoral workers in marriage and family life. We then found passages relevant to these questions by researching Church documents on marriage and family from the past one hundred years. These include papal encyclicals, apostolic exhortations, and addresses, Vatican II documents, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Mainstream media coverage of Church events and Church teaching leads many to misunderstand Catholic positions on marriage and family life. While the Catholic Church has developed a rich, detailed, and positive teaching on marriage, family, and sexuality, many Catholics do not have access to this teaching, buried as it is in lengthy Church documents which many find intimidating. Finding the relevant teaching to address specific questions is not always a simple task, either. This book’s main contribution is to present Church teaching relevant to marriage and family in one volume clearly organized by topic and question.

When we compare Eastern and Western societies, we find similar economic and social forces at work. But the impact of these on family life reflects differences in cultural history and social context. This volume examines family change in Korea, Japan, and the United States, allowing us to contrast the collective emphasis of a Confucian social heritage with the individualism of the West. An impressive group of demographers and family sociologists considers such questions as: How do family patterns vary within countries and across societies? How essential are marriage and parenthood? How do levels of contact between middle-aged adults and their parents who live elsewhere differ in East Asian countries and the U.S.? How does female employment vary based on family factors and do these factors affect employment across societies? Policy makers and demographic and family researchers both in the U.S. and Asia will find this book a vital resource for understanding the dynamics of family life in contrasting modern societies. Contributors: Larry L. Bumpass, Yong-Chan Byun, Minja Kim Choe, Karen Oppenheim Mason, Ronald R. Rindfluss, Noriko O. Tsuya.

The world today is grappling with the consequences of faulty family values practised by past generations. God cherishes the family unit, but modern civilisation, especially in the West, has gradually defiled the institution of marriage and encouraged divorce and single parenting. This has decreased respect in the home and driven God out of classrooms, removing God's word from school curricula. The shocking result is a moral vacuum and the breakdown of law and order in many ramifications. This unfortunate situation calls for the writing of a book like this to rescue Christian families from a downward slide. J.O.Y Aladetan's book, Christian Marriage and Family Life, addresses a relevant problem, gives useful and pragmatic suggestions, and provides delightful scriptural information to help married and unmarried persons alike in their desire for instruction about Christian families. I pray that this book will serve as a tool to protect the institution of marriage and Christian families and that it will promote and enlarge the kingdom of God. Marriage And Family written by H. Elizabeth Peters and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-07-16 with Social Science categories.

Family life has been radically transformed over the past three decades. Half of all households are unmarried, while only a quarter of all married households have kids. A third of the nation's births are to unwed mothers, and a third of America's married men earn less than their wives. With half of all women cohabitating before they turn thirty and gay and lesbian couples settling down with increasing visibility, there couldn't be a better time for a book that tracks new conceptions of marriage and family as they are being formed. The editors of this volume explore the motivation to marry and the role of matrimony in a diverse group of men and women. They compare empirical data from several emerging family types (single, co-parent, gay and lesbian, among others) to studies of traditional nuclear families, and they consider the effect of public policy and recent economic developments on the practice of marriage and the stabilization or destabilization of family. Approaching this topic from a variety of perspectives, including historical, cross-cultural, gendered, demographic, socio-biological, and social-psychological viewpoints, the editors highlight the complexity of the modern American family and the growing indeterminacy of its boundaries. Refusing to adhere to any one position, the editors provide an unbiased account of contemporary marriage and family.
