In this book, generally speaking, some properties of bitopological spaces generated by certain non-symmetric functions are studied. These functions, called "probabilistic quasi-pseudo-metrics" and "fuzzy quasi-pseudo-metrics", are generalisations of classical quasi-pseudo metrics. For the sake of completeness as well as for convenience and easy comparison, most of the introductory paragraphs are mainly devoted to fundamental notions and results from the classical -- deterministic or symmetric -- theory.

Structural Aspects In The Theory Of Probability written by Herbert Heyer and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Mathematics categories.

The book is conceived as a text accompanying the traditional graduate courses on probability theory. An important feature of this enlarged version is the emphasis on algebraic-topological aspects leading to a wider and deeper understanding of basic theorems such as those on the structure of continuous convolution semigroups and the corresponding processes with independent increments. Fourier transformation OCo the method applied within the settings of Banach spaces, locally compact Abelian groups and commutative hypergroups OCo is given an in-depth discussion. This powerful analytic tool along with the relevant facts of harmonic analysis make it possible to study certain properties of stochastic processes in dependence of the algebraic-topological structure of their state spaces. In extension of the first edition, the new edition contains chapters on the probability theory of generalized convolution structures such as polynomial and Sturm-Liouville hypergroups, and on the central limit problem for groups such as tori, p-adic groups and solenoids. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Probability Measures on Metric Spaces (318 KB). Contents: Probability Measures on Metric Spaces; The Fourier Transform in a Banach Space; The Structure of Infinitely Divisible Probability Measures; Harmonic Analysis of Convolution Semigroups; Negative Definite Functions and Convolution Semigroups; Probabilistic Properties of Convolution Semigroups; Hypergroups in Probability Theory; Limit Theorems on Locally Compact Abelian Groups. Readership: Graduate students, lecturers and researchers in probability and statistics."

Probabilistic Methods In Geometry Topology And Spectral Theory written by Yaiza Canzani and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-20 with Education categories.

This volume contains the proceedings of the CRM Workshops on Probabilistic Methods in Spectral Geometry and PDE, held from August 22–26, 2016 and Probabilistic Methods in Topology, held from November 14–18, 2016 at the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques, Université de Montréal, Montréal, Quebec, Canada. Probabilistic methods have played an increasingly important role in many areas of mathematics, from the study of random groups and random simplicial complexes in topology, to the theory of random Schrödinger operators in mathematical physics. The workshop on Probabilistic Methods in Spectral Geometry and PDE brought together some of the leading researchers in quantum chaos, semi-classical theory, ergodic theory and dynamical systems, partial differential equations, probability, random matrix theory, mathematical physics, conformal field theory, and random graph theory. Its emphasis was on the use of ideas and methods from probability in different areas, such as quantum chaos (study of spectra and eigenstates of chaotic systems at high energy); geometry of random metrics and related problems in quantum gravity; solutions of partial differential equations with random initial conditions. The workshop Probabilistic Methods in Topology brought together researchers working on random simplicial complexes and geometry of spaces of triangulations (with connections to manifold learning); topological statistics, and geometric probability; theory of random groups and their properties; random knots; and other problems. This volume covers recent developments in several active research areas at the interface of Probability, Semiclassical Analysis, Mathematical Physics, Theory of Automorphic Forms and Graph Theory.

Foundations Of Measurement Geometrical Threshold And Probabilistic Representations written by Patrick Suppes and has been published by Courier Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-01 with Mathematics categories.

All of the sciences―physical, biological, and social―have a need for quantitative measurement. This influential series, Foundations of Measurement, established the formal foundations for measurement, justifying the assignment of numbers to objects in terms of their structural correspondence. Volume I introduces the distinct mathematical results that serve to formulate numerical representations of qualitative structures. Volume II extends the subject in the direction of geometrical, threshold, and probabilistic representations, and Volume III examines representation as expressed in axiomatization and invariance.

The Self Organizing Brain From Growth Cones To Functional Networks written by M.A. Corner and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-10-11 with Medical categories.

This book concentrates on the organizational level of neurons and neuronal networks under the unifying theme "The Self-Organizing Brain - From Growth Cones to Functional Networks". Such a theme is attractive because it incorporates all phases in the emergence of complexity and (adaptive) organization, as well as involving processes that remain operative in the mature state. The order of the sections follows successive levels of organization from neuronal growth cones, neurite formation, neuronal morphology and signal processing to network development, network dynamics and, finally, to the formation of functional circuits.

This book comprises a selection of papers from the EVOLVE 2012 held in Mexico City, Mexico. The aim of the EVOLVE is to build a bridge between probability, set oriented numerics and evolutionary computing, as to identify new common and challenging research aspects. The conference is also intended to foster a growing interest for robust and efficient methods with a sound theoretical background. EVOLVE is intended to unify theory-inspired methods and cutting-edge techniques ensuring performance guarantee factors. By gathering researchers with different backgrounds, a unified view and vocabulary can emerge where the theoretical advancements may echo in different domains. Summarizing, the EVOLVE focuses on challenging aspects arising at the passage from theory to new paradigms and aims to provide a unified view while raising questions related to reliability, performance guarantees and modeling. The papers of the EVOLVE 2012 make a contribution to this goal.

This book is the first one of a work in several volumes, treating the history of the development of topology. The work contains papers which can be classified into 4 main areas. Thus there are contributions dealing with the life and work of individual topologists, with specific schools of topology, with research in topology in various countries, and with the development of topology in different periods. The work is not restricted to topology in the strictest sense but also deals with applications and generalisations in a broad sense. Thus it also treats, e.g., categorical topology, interactions with functional analysis, convergence spaces, and uniform spaces. Written by specialists in the field, it contains a wealth of information which is not available anywhere else.
