Housewife by day, daring writer at night, seated on the bare floor, this thinker of gender engaged with the thriving social and community reform movements of early-mid twentieth century Malayali society. The first prominent voice who spoke on behalf of women, the first startling insights that represented the struggle against the repression of the women of the Namboodiri Brahmin community, Lalithambika Antharjanam’s stories cover half a century of her engagement with caste, gender, and nationalist uprisings. In writing some of the founding texts of feminism in Kerala, she made powerful feminist interventions into literary realism in Kerala. Relatively unknown outside Kerala and yet to receive the critical attention that is her due, this book seeks to resurrect Lalithambika as a feminist public intellectual.

“See You on the Other Side” transports us into the not-too-distant future when advances in medical technology make miraculous breakthroughs in the fields of functional immortality, mind-to-machine interfaces and telepathy commonplace. What will the human race do with itself once famine, disease and even death itself have all been abolished? What is left to invent or to fight for when every person can literally become the god of their own private universe if they so choose?

This book is about finding an explanation for my experiences as a healer, a role which I fell into without any idea of how or why it worked as effectively as it did. I have always been aware that my mind seems to work differently to others in some circumstances, such as noticing that I didn’t have any subjective memory at the age of 23 after a fright in an aircraft when the floor hatch on which I stepped fell a half an inch and locked. This gave me a great fright at the time, and the aircrew told me I was as white as a sheet at the time. When I recalled that experience there was no fright associated with the memory. In my healing experiences I was able to experience the subject’s experience when it happened, but when I remembered it later there was no subjective memory of the experience, just a bland observation that ‘this is what happened at the time.’ From the Yoga Sutras I have learned how this works in theory and practice, and have been able to relate the Yoga theory to my limited understanding of quantum mechanics in this book. From what I have written here, I believe I have resolved Bohm’s concept of Wholeness and the Implicate Order, which physics may or may not accept. I have no explicit expectation in that regard.

Picture your 21st birthday. Did you have a party? If so, do you remember who was there? How clear are these memories? Should we trust them? Such questions have fascinated scientists for hundreds of years, and, as Alison Winter shows in this book, the answers have changed dramatically in just the past century.

On The Other Side Of Chaos written by Ellen Van Vechten and has been published by Central Recovery Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-04 with Psychology categories.

A lawyer turned drug counselor examines the disruption many families endure when addiction impacts their lives. Based in part on her own family’s journey, Ellen Van Vechten explains the science of addiction, the theory of treatment, and the Twelve-Step model of recovery, providing sensible information and tips for reasoned action in support of a loved one while fostering personal growth and recovery. Powerlessness over another's addiction has a caustic effect on the family. Too often parents and partners equate "letting go" with "giving up." While acceptance of a lack of control is essential to coping with the disease within the family system, there is nothing passive about supporting a partner or child on their journey to recovery. This concept is the foundation of Van Vechten's original approach to empower individuals with knowledge, which when coupled with acceptance allows any family dealing with active addiction to make thoughtful and reasoned decisions to facilitate the recovery of both their loves ones and themselves.

Black River written by Justin Clemens and has been published by re.press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-09 with categories.

Black River is the autobiography of a nonexistent personage. Drawing on literary techniques developed by Beckett, Burroughs and Borges, Black River plunges into a violent and surreal world from which the last traces of the gods have vanished. The text by Justin Clemens is supplemented with Helen Johnson's extraordinary collages. Black River is a work of hallucinatory materialism.
