The "Funky Munky Band Goes On Tour" is a fictitious and hilarious journey through what most local musicians experience trying to make it big. Although this is a fictitious book, many of the struggles musicians face are very real and consequently, very funny too! As you will see. Soon after an initial jam in the town of Upharta, four musicians decide to become a band. They are all aging and would like one last shot at touring and perhaps success. It is decided that a website would greatly aid in that cause. To keep viewers interested they adopt a "newsletter" format to keep fans engaged and to grow the ever important "following". Oh, but this is no regular newsletter! Fun, puns, and an out and out belly laughs are the result. The Funky Munky Band Goes On Tour is a quick read that is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone! Seriously unserious!

"When David sat down later, he tucked one leg up under him and I noticed that the sole of his shoe was as clean as the day he’d bought it. OK, maybe the shoes were new, but it struck me that he hardly ever sets foot in the street. It’s all hotel, limousines, sterilized airports - the life I was about to lead. I shivered, feeling poised at the top of a rollercoaster about to sweep across the world." In 1978, Sean Mayes toured the world with David Bowie. Travelling first class and performing each night with one of the world’s greatest rock stars at the height of his fame was an amazing experience - fortunately, Sean had the foresight to document it. Here, for the first time in complete book form, Sean’s tour diary is presented; a blow by blow record of how it felt to be part of a real rock circus, from rehearsals in Dallas through shows across the US, UK, Europe, Australasia and Japan to recording in London and Switzerland. Providing page after page of fascinating insight into life on the road with Bowie, Sean’s account is a unique travelogue, a must for any Bowie fan or, indeed, anyone interested in life on a sell-out world tour. Also includes a full tour chronology and previously unpublished photos from Sean’s personal archive.

Culture On Tour written by Edward M. Bruner and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Art categories.

Recruited to be a lecturer on a group tour of Indonesia, Edward M. Bruner decided to make the tourists aware of tourism itself. He photographed tourists photographing Indonesians, asking the group how they felt having their pictures taken without their permission. After a dance performance, Bruner explained to the group that the exhibition was not traditional, but instead had been set up specifically for tourists. His efforts to induce reflexivity led to conflict with the tour company, which wanted the displays to be viewed as replicas of culture and to remain unexamined. Although Bruner was eventually fired, the experience became part of a sustained exploration of tourist performances, narratives, and practices. Synthesizing more than twenty years of research in cultural tourism, Culture on Tour analyzes a remarkable variety of tourist productions, ranging from safari excursions in Kenya and dance dramas in Bali to an Abraham Lincoln heritage site in Illinois. Bruner examines each site in all its particularity, taking account of global and local factors, as well as the multiple perspectives of the various actors—the tourists, the producers, the locals, and even the anthropologist himself. The collection will be essential to those in the field as well as to readers interested in globalization and travel.

Asia On Tour written by Tim Winter and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-24 with Art categories.

With the vast majority of academic theory on tourism based on ‘Western’ tourists, Asia on Tour illustrates why the rapid growth of travel for leisure and recreation in Asia demands a reappraisal of how tourism is analyzed and understood. Examining domestic and intra-regional tourism, the book reveals how improvements in infrastructures, ever increasing disposable incomes, liberalized economies, the inter-connectivities of globalization and the lowering of borders, both physical and political, are now enabling millions of Asians to travel as tourists. Drawing upon multidisciplinary theoretical perspectives and up-to-date empirical research, the twenty-three accessible essays in this volume indicate why a rigorous and critical study of Asian tourism must become integral to both our analysis of this rapidly transforming region and our interpretation of global tourism in the twenty first century. As a rich collection of essays on heritage and tourism oriented around Asian tourists, Asia on Tour will be of particular interest to students and scholars working in the fields of tourism, Asian studies, geography, heritage, anthropology, development, sociology, and cultural and postcolonial studies.

His wife thinks he's obsessed. Laureth thinks he's on the verge of a breakdown. He's supposed to be doing research in Austria, so when his notebook shows up in New York, Laureth knows something is wrong.
