Galloping on Wings with the P-51 Mustang is the action-packed autobiography by air race pilot Howie Keefe. Howie Keefe, USNR (retired), takes you behind the scenes to get a personal glimpse into the amazing and precarious world of air racing. The author's thrill-a-minute account is an inspiring chronicle of his many fascinating adventures from a lifetime of aviation exploits. Ride along at over 400 mph as he describes remarkable events from his early days of training to setting records and winning trophy after trophy in numerous Unlimited Class Air Races at Reno, Cape May, Miami, and more. Howie Keefe started his flying career in 1941 flying a Piper J-3 Cub on skis while in the Civilian Pilot Training (CPT) program. After the Navy gave him a pair of gold wings, and retiring from military service in 1950, Howie found a surplus North American P-51, and highly modified it--then flew it to victory at the air races under the name "Miss America." The airplane became an icon within racing circles and is still racing today. Galloping on Wings is the story of this distinguished aircraft and the man who flew her through both trying times and victory. Many World War II historians feel the Army Air Corps' North American P-51 Mustang was the vehicle that truly ended the war in 1945. The designers of this famed aircraft manufactured a fast, maneuverable single-engine fighter that to this day is still considered one of the most beautiful examples of the culmination of aviation art and science in the world. The legendary P-51 has acquired an almost mythical quality and remains one of the most recognizable and revered aircraft of all time.

Reader Feedback: “Eye and Rowland are absolute masters at world creation, as demonstrated in this first novel of what should become a classic fantasy trilogy.” “Though very developed characters and distinct worlds it was easy to read and follow. The Book of Celesta is a beautiful gift in the story development. Unexpected twists kept me intrigued.” “The story is captivating and follows theatrical structures both familiar and fantastical leading to an ending that is exciting, mysterious, and unexpected.” ***** A true tale of high fantasy, On Wings of Air maintains many romantic elements, exploring real-world problems in a fantasy setting which appeals to a wide audience. The prince of the Skychildren is exiled from the sky and enslaved by his enemies on the ground. In such circumstances, how is he to save his kingdom from a madman and the entire world from destruction by a powerful creature created by a goddess? And how could love for the princess of the Groundbreathers possibly enter into the picture? If you are a fan of Fantasy, On Wings of Air is for you! ***** “Tierra, I don’t think you quite understand. If I found the Fenik, there would be nothing you—or anyone else here—could do to stop me from leaving. You said that Fenik was ‘a weapon of sorts.’ In fact, the Fenik is the ultimate weapon.” “I should not need to remind you, but it appears that I must. We are Skychildren. We are not barbarians. We do not keep slaves, and we do not attack defenseless women in the streets. We are ruled by honor, not by our emotions. It is true that we have an eons-long dispute with Princess Tierra’s people. But we have no quarrel with her personally. In every way that matters, she is the same as we are.” “Come now, what are you waiting for? Finish me off now, and you shall have your victory. Immolate both of us in your fire, and you shall be free to do as you wish!”

Air power for warfighting is a story that's been told many times. Air power for peacekeeping and UN enforcement is a story that desperately needs to be told. For the first-time, this volume covers the fascinating range of aerial peace functions. In rich detail it describes: aircraft transporting vital supplies to UN peacekeepers and massive amounts of humanitarian aid to war-affected populations; aircraft serving as the 'eyes in sky' to keep watch for the world organization; and combat aircraft enforcing the peace. Rich poignant case studies illuminate the past and present use of UN air power, pointing the way for the future. This book impressively fills the large gap in the current literature on peace operations, on the United Nations and on air power generally.

Florida’s contribution to aviation history cannot be underestimated. Wings over Florida chronicles the story of flying in the “Sunshine State,” from the early pioneers in gliders and balloons, to the recent developments in the space program. The story of Florida in flight is even older than its statehood, with Colonel John Sherburne planning to use balloons as early as 1840 in the Second Seminole War. Not only was the first scheduled passenger airline (the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line) begun in Florida, but it is also home to the world’s oldest international airline. Many heroes and heroines of the air came from Florida. Even those who were not Floridians by birth spent time flying in the ideal conditions that Florida provided. Pioneers, such as Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Peter Sones, and Jacqueline Cochran, all took to the air over Florida.

Black Wings, published in 1934 during the Great Depression, is the autobiography of black aviation pioneer, engineer, and entrepreneur William Powell. In 1917 he enlisted in officer training school and served in a segregated unit during World War I. During the war Powell was gassed by the enemy, and he suffered health problems throughout his life from this poison gas attack. After the war Powell opened service stations in Chicago. He became interested in aviation, but the only school that would train him was located in Los Angeles. He sold his businesses in Chicago and moved to the West Coast. After receiving his pilot's license in 1932, Powell set out to motivate other African Americans to pursue a career in aviation. Powell eventually opened an all-black flight school, produced a movie, published monthly journals, offered scholarships to young African Americans, and founded the first African American owned airplane manufacturer. Powell died in 1942.
