Discover How to Make Beautiful Beaded Jewelry in Just One Day with This Easy to Use Guide 15 Step by Step Earring, Necklace and Bracelet Designs are with detailed images Included Welcome to the amazing world of Bead Making! As some of you know from my other books, this has been a passion of mine for more than 15 years. I'm thrilled that you will allow me to show you how to create several of my earring, bracelet and necklace designs. I'm sure this will help you in your creative process and further your skills in this art form. The pieces presented in this book were inspired by different things, places, people, and events. Sometimes it's the colors of a flower that I think work beautifully together, and other times it's the feeling of something that I'm trying to capture. The type of bead art and jewelry that I make fluctuates a lot depending on what else is going on in my life. After my first child was born, I began making bird's nest jewelry to express this part of my life. When we moved to a ranch, I began making funky art pendants in the shape of owls. An extended visit to my parent's home in Florida inspired me to begin using shells and sea glass in my art. Beaded jewelry is an art form like any other; your inspiration and ideas for color combinations or for unique pieces of your own can come from anywhere. Any of these projects can be used as a stepping off point for a variety of different projects of your creation. All you have to do is start changing the colors, sizes, and materials and see where it takes you. Beads and wire, wire and beads; there are so many different ways that you can combine these two things to form countless pieces of art. Not all of the bead and wire pieces that I make are jewelry, but a lot of it is. I like the idea of not only expressing myself through my art, but then turning it into something functional; a piece that I can wear out and show to the world, or a piece that someone else can wear. Beads come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. You can make your own beads out of clay, wood, shells, pieces, stone, or plastic (some of my favorite beads are made out of little plastic flowers that I drilled holes through). You can also find beads sold anywhere, with many of them reflecting the area they are from, such as stone beads near the mountains and shells near the beach. Making beaded jewelry is easy, fun, and maybe even addicting. Even the tiniest beads add up quickly to become big, full, colorful projects. Start making your own beaded jewelry today, and open up a world of color, creativity, and personal expression that you may not have even knew existed. You will find that with each bead you thread, your passion for this craft will continue to grow. Purchase your copy today!

"I cannot read Hermann Hesse without feeling that I am drawn into the presence of a deeply serious mind, a mind that is searching for the meaning of life." - Carl Jung A new 2023 translation of Hesse's opus magnum The Glass Bead Game. This edition also contains an epilogue by the translator, a philosophical glossary of concepts used by Hesse and a chronology of his life and work. Hesse won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1947. He also received the Goethe Prize of Frankfurt in 1946 and the 1955 Peace Prize of the German Booksellers. "The Glass Bead Game: An attempt at a biography of Magister Ludi Josef Knecht, including Knecht's writings", is the last and most extensive novel by Hermann Hesse, first published in two volumes in 1943. It is by far his longest novel. Sometimes it is translated in English as "Magister Ludi" or sometimes merely "The Glass Bead Game" (original German "Glasperlenspiel"). As Hesse's opus magnum and final philosophic treatise it offers his exploration of his philosophical musings and existential concerns. A focal point in understanding this narrative is discerning the roles of the characters Pater Jakobus and Tegularius, who, as suggested, represent transparent disguises for the renowned thinkers Jacob Burckhardt and Friedrich Nietzsche. The futuristic narrative's center, Josef Knecht, undergoes a journey of self-discovery and intellectual growth, the central theme of all of Hesse's works. The fictional narrator's assertion that Tegularius played as pivotal a role in Knecht's life as did Designori and Pater in Marienfels provides readers with insight into the two primary forces shaping Knecht's worldview. These forces represent the contrasting perspectives of Burckhardt and Nietzsche, who in Hesse's eyes were pivotal in forming his own philosophical leanings. Pater Jakobus embodies the measured, historical perspective reminiscent of Burckhardt's approach, while Tegularius, with his unrestrained brilliance and unpredictable nature, mirrors Nietzsche's radical philosophical approach. Designori's character acts as a conduit through which the historical and institutional views of Burckhardt are channeled. By presenting Designori as a "practical man of the world," Hesse emphasizes the grounded, real-world applications of Burckhardt's historical teachings. Consequently, the narrative becomes a reflection of the ongoing tussle between two fundamental philosophical standpoints: Burckhardt's grounded historical perspective and Nietzsche's radical, avant-garde approach. Both are presented not as contradictory but as complementary forces guiding Knecht's (and by extension, Hesse's) evolving worldview. By personifying the ideologies of Burckhardt and Nietzsche through the characters of Pater Jakobus and Tegularius, Hesse creates a vibrant tapestry of thought, reflection, and intellectual growth.

Jack Diamond is a master welder whose menial profession at the Morgan River Shipyard gives little indication of his talents, education, training, and capabilities. A well-educated, ex-marine pilot, Jack went through flight training years before with the shipyard's owner and CEO, Don Hendrix, but the two old friends find themselves at opposite poles of consciousness in later life. Jackie is pro-labor, Hendrix is pro-Hendrix! Jack does not play Hendrix' power game. He has much more subtle powers of his own ... powers he himself does not fully understand, but which he has learned to use to bring some semblance of balance into a sometimes seemingly unjust universe. Jack's home is in the captain's cabin of a derelict coastal freighter, renamed the Land Lady, hauled out high and dry in the shipyard's scrap yard. Jack has friends from all walks of life--not the least of whom are a number of town characters who seem to emerge from the woodwork with a bottle of wine and a joi-de-vivre not at all characteristic of their breed. They seem able to throw off the bondage of their social position long enough to enjoy life--with Jack's considerable help--in ways that only a partially inebriated imagination could produce. Through the indirect help of another friend, T-Bird, a tribal Indian, Jack manages to save the shipyard from bankruptcy, but not in any way that could easily be imagined.

The Himalayan Bond is about a fascinating journey through India taken by two young men one Indian, Dani, and one British, Roland to explore the conflicting issues of globalisation and sustainability that affect both urban and rural areas in modern-day India. They take in the hustle and bustle of Delhi before heading to the lower Himalayas and Danis childhood home. Dani introduces Roland to the charm and magic of India and leads him to his ancestral mountain landscape, revealing the treasures, simplicity and spirituality of Danis heritage. The themes that the author has tried to explore, and his observations, are thoughtful and compelling. The story takes place against the backdrop of the International Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen in 2009. The author has written a lot of the book from his own experience and feels very strongly about the issues discussed as they threaten his family home and the countryside he is so familiar with. He explains the nuances of everyday living and provides a rare insight into age-old values somehow untarnished by modernity. During their travels, they explore and discuss a variety of topics: the history of the area and what the British Empire meant to people in India; old skills and traditions that are disappearing; the importance of rituals and karma and the way they are passed down through generations; the caste system and arranged marriages; environmental problems; poverty; farming; the effects of building hydro dams; how large corporations are displacing villages; how age-old sustainable ways and skills are being lost in the race for a modern lifestyle in the Himalayas and around the world; and party politics, with power as an end in itself. Tales from Indias history, mythology and changing lifestyle are used to help explain Indias rich past and the challenges for its future. ...A good and informative read for anyone wanting to travel to the country. Devdan Sen (Co-author: Rough Guide to India)
