This book has been designed to help answer the questions such as: How are the manifestations of God alike in both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Chadashah (New Testament)? Do both reveal how Jews and Gentiles have equal access to the Rock of Salvation? Did Yeshua (Jesus) quote and teach from the Tanakh? Did women follow Yeshua from town to town during His itinerant ministry?

God is radically dedicated to our ongoing growth in spiritual maturity and holiness. This is both glorious and terrifying. It is glorious because the Lord of heaven and earth is for us. But it is terrifying because we are idolaters. This means that when God brings greater redemption into our lives he also brings a death sentence to our fallen desires. In love, God will do whatever it takes - even tearing us to shreds if necessary - to replace our feeble pleasures with lasting desire for himself. Sadly, in our culture two false responses to suffering have become deeply embedded in the Church: deadly dualism and shallow stoicism. Each can effectively hijack God's good purpose in suffering. Torn to Heal equips us to understand and reject these false and self-defeating approaches to suffering, and to embrace God's good purpose in our trials.

Jesus Christ saves radically depraved men, women, and children from their sins. However, to understand, believe, and love the good news about the crucified and resurrected Savior, we must first understand our condition. Thus, we offer this issue of the Free Grace Broadcaster: Radical Depravity. Arthur Pink introduces us to this weighty subject by asking the question, “Is man a totally and thoroughly depraved creature by nature?” Thomas Reade then tells us about the deadly consequences and bitter fruits of Adam’s fall: in Adam all die. We then consider Joel Beeke’s helpful survey of the doctrine of human depravity. A second article by Thomas Reade leads us to a painful truth: the heart of man is evil. But he does not leave us there: he takes us to the blessed Son of God for deliverance. John Owen describes with great clarity the depraved and corrupted state of man’s mind and teaches us that the only remedy for this great darkness is the new birth: “You must be born again.” Loraine Boettner explains the extent and effects of original sin, which results in human inability in the matters of salvation. What is our true spiritual condition outside of Christ? Charles Spurgeon declares that we are legally, spiritually, and eternally dead. Nevertheless, he also tells us that we can be legally, spiritually, eternally alive by faith in Jesus Christ the Son! We then hear from John Flavel that in mercy, grace, and love, God draws sinners to Jesus Christ, gradually, suitably, powerfully, effectually, and finally. That is indeed good news! J. C. Ryle brings our subject to a close by asking a penetrating question: “Are you dead or alive?” Each of us, dear readers, must answer that question.

It just seems so very simple and obvious-from the very beginning, it seems all God ever really wanted from man, the reason He created him in His own image, and endowed him with a mind and a heart and a free will, was to have a mutually respectful and affectionate relationship with him, to 'walk' and 'talk' and 'share' with him, to win man's affection and loyalty. Yet, time and time again, even most of the people to whom God had shown special favor, violated the trust and affection that He had shown them.~ But then came Jesus Christ, 'the Suffering Servant of God'. Jesus invested a lot-everything, in fact-to restore our relationship with God, to get us talking to God, not as some nebulous and distant entity, but as "Abba/Daddy/Papa", so that we would "return to Him with all our hearts". To justify this level of intimacy between sinful creatures and a holy Creator, Jesus offered his body and blood as a 'sin-offering' to God on Calvary, on our behalf. His life, in particular his consistent faithfulness and obedience to the Heavenly Father, is the true measure of how we are to live out this holy father-child relationship with God. ~ Yet within just a few centuries of Christ's Ascension, men somehow managed to transform his simple portrayal of God, one that fosters child-like love and trust, into a maze of words and ideas that seem to redefine God-who in Exodus 3:14* told Moses: "This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' "-to redefine Him now as a divine governing body of three persons-i.e. 'the Holy Trinity'. This mysterious view of God hardly elicits the spontaneous affection towards God that Jesus was trying to spark in us, and therefore many miss out on 'the Good News' to mankind that Jesus brought to us from God.~ Confident that "there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people," 1 Tim 2:5-6*, the author tries in this book to stay focused on what he sees as most important in Christ's overall message:. . . that the Almighty is a loving Father who "rewards those who earnestly seek him;" (Heb 11:6*) . . . that we would do well to listen to Jesus, and follow his example of faithfulness and obedience to God, if we expect to be justified by his blood on 'Judgment Day', because he spoke and taught and worked miracles with the authority he received from God, and he embodies his Heavenly Father's wisdom, love, and care for mankind-he is not only the Messiah, he is the perfect "image of the invisible God" (see Col 1:15*), a 'living portrait' of God's character-truly 'the Son of God';. . . that maintaining a 'spiritual communion' with Jesus, especially by living out 'the Beatitudes' in chapter 5 of Matthew's Gospel, is the surest way to resist evil influences and keep God's 'Ten Commandments', so fundamental in our relationship with God;. . . that becoming truly holy and pleasing to God is not only possible but expected of every Christian; that they are to make it their goal to be fully available to the Spirit of the Heavenly Father-the sanctifying influence of God, that can come over us like fear or awe or joy, . . . falling on us, . . . filling us, . . . imparting to us a holy resolve, a blameless disposition, God's inspiration/direction/consolation/energy/power/zeal, . . . pressing upon us from within to joyfully sing His praises, and do His works, and even to speak in His name-for this is God's way of gradually transforming God's people to a Christ-like level of perfection and holiness, and so renewing mankind. ~ It is the author's hope that somewhere among these thoughts and prayers those new to Christ will find a blessing-an insight or two that will help them draw even closer to God through Jesus Christ._____________________________________________ (Large Print edition) _______* The Holy Bible, New International Version(r)~(see also ISBN-13: 978-1479184446)

Paul s ways of speaking about God, Jesus, and the Spirit are intricately intertwined: talking about any one of the three, for Paul, implies reference to all of them together. However, much current Pauline scholarship discusses Paul s God-, Christ-, and Spirit-language without reference to trinitarian theology. In contrast to that trend, Wesley Hill argues in this book that later, post-Pauline trinitarian theologies represent a better approach, opening a fresh angle on Paul s earlier talk about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Spirit. Hill looks critically at certain well-known discussions in the field of New Testament studies -- those by N. T. Wright, Richard Bauckham, Larry Hurtado, and others -- in light of patristic and contemporary trinitarian theologies, resulting in an innovative approach to an old set of questions. Adeptly integrating biblical exegesis and historical-systematic theology, Hill s Paul and the Trinity shows how trinitarian theologies illumine interpretive difficulties in a way that more recent theological concepts have failed to do.

This book aims to enlighten the readers to the reasons and arguments for believing in the existence of God, Jesus Christ is the true Messiah and to disprove the unfounded and blasphemous allegations made against Christ and the Universal Church by some fictional writers, who have attempted to ridicule Christ, and to reduce the standing of the Gospel to a product of political forces which allegedly operated, to determine as to which text should be included in the Canon and which should be edited out, rather than considering the Gospel as the literal work of God.
