One Scripture or Many? proposes a novel understanding of canon that reaches beyond the text to the reality of tradition. This new approach to biblical theology takes up major questions concerning the unity of the canon. Its thesis is bold: canon is both text and tradition. As text, the canon is the product of a history of formation; its unity is ascribed by subsequent generations interpreting the text. As tradition, its fundamental openness to diverse interpretations is the function of a subject behind the text that holds together the tradition's unity. Yet open-endedness does not mean an absence of determinacy. Hermeneutical, theological, and philosophical parameters are given in order to maintain a unity at one level that does not exist between ideas conflicting on another level. These parameters are constituted through the relationship between text, reality, and experience. On the one hand, these parameters are embedded in the text. On the other hand, they are inextricably linked to reality because they themselves reflect experiences of that reality. The interdisciplinary approach in this book draws on scholarship in the Hebrew Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the New Testament, philosophy, and theology. Both Jewish and Christian scholars conclude that the search for the canon is an open-ended process of interpretation. Questions of the canon's unity find their niche in a new concept of biblical theology that presupposes the theological and philosophical relevance of biblical texts. As conceived in religious categories, experience and reality are themes already available in scripture. Whether one or many, scripture addresses these questions for our time.

"Twenty-somethings once faithfully attended church. What made them stop? While most said they still believe that the Bible is God's Word, they also said that the idea that the earth is millions of years old was one thing that caused them to doubt the bible? The crumbling foundation of the church takes a devastating toll on future generations. Therefore, churches must reclaim the historical truth found in Genesis and apply the Bible's authority to every area of life." -Ken Ham, President Answers in Genesis As the modern Church struggles to find a place of relevancy for a new generation that already has massive demands on its time and attention, more and more young people raised in the Church are leaving it - failing to find the answers to their questions of faith and life, beset with doubts raised by issues that the Church chooses not to address. Opting to skirt the controversy of Genesis as literal history, the biblical authority of the Holy Word is called into question and reduced to a collection of mere stories. More popularly considered an issue for schools or in the public realm, the conflicting views on the age of the earth also remain a pivotal issue within the Church - as it has for over two centuries. Was the Creation week literally six days? Does science really point to an old earth? Does the issue really matter for Christians? Should this issue even be discussed within the Church? Join authors Dr. Jason Lisle and Tim Chaffey as they put forth a case against an old-earth interpretation of Scripture. A comprehensive biblical, theological, and scientific critique of old-earth creationism, the book presents its compelling testimony in layman's terms to create a powerful debate that leads to unquestionable truth.

Inside the covers of this book you will find the Real Scriptures' of the Christian churches. Many church leaders know that other Christian churches hold to these books but they are only willing to state what they have been brain-washed to believe, that is about the other inferior books: "It isn't in the canon" (of scripture) formed of course by the early Catholic Church at various stages and Councils from the fourth century A.D. therefore no one has the right to change what is in the canon of scripture and the Catholic Church changed it in their councils not in agreement of other Christians but to hide their offence at the words of God. They would not even imagine that different churches have different scriptures and assume that the correct canon of scripture must be the one first declared by the Catholic Church and its priests but other priests must be considered demented or apostate, but they are not affected by the changes they made to the canon of Scripture over many centuries. They will not consider the canons of Orthodox Churches or others because they vary in different regions of the world. So is European Christianity based in the Vatican City right about all its holy scriptures while everyone else's church scriptures are false scriptures? Ethiopia it seems got most books of scripture right even with their translation into an ancient language! The Real Scriptures', edited by James Platter above, a layman who formerly studied the scriptures for many years with the Baptist Bible Fellowship in San Dimas, California in the United States, but now rejects the reduced 1627 A.D. Version of the KJV Bible, and formally learned the Greek language of the New Testament at Capernwray Missionary Fellowship, Moss Vale, N. S. W.
