Faith in the Unseen is challenging (in the intellectual sense, not the stylistically abrasive sense) and fascinating. An intriguing contribution to the debate on science and religion, it provides a remarkable insight into scriptural close reading and the "rationalization" of religious faith.

The year is 2112 and scientists are predicting that in twenty years or so an ice age will develop, that will, in all probability, be an extinction level event (ELE). Six scientists from various scientific fields come together and are able to build a spaceship that is capable of traveling faster than the speed of light. They discover that this will allow them to travel back in time. Traveling essentially the speed of light allows them to travel forward in time. Using time travel, they go back to 2012 to try to convince people to change their ways and prevent this ELE from happening. Unfortunately, the people in that time period don’t believe them and the ice age is definitely coming. The six explorers search for an earth-like planet to which they can bring a number of people. They find a suitable planet more than two million light-years from earth. Is there time to find the appropriate individuals and transport them to this new planet before ice age engulfs the entire Earth?

One of this book’s main themes is how God’s ‘Book of Nature’ is concordant with His ‘Book of Scripture’. In their writings, many of the pioneers of the Scientific Revolution often referred to God’s two ‘Books’. These brilliant naturalists were also devout Christians. But that was back then. Is modern science actually compatible with Scripture? More to the point, are the findings of 21st-century science concordant with the Genesis creation story? What else does the text of Genesis 1-2 have to say? While making an honest effort to answer those questions, some vitally-important theological concepts (which were introduced by Moses in the first two chapters of Genesis) are also examined and discussed in this volume. This comprehensive study (on how modern science is concordant with the intended meaning of the text of Genesis 1-2) has many useful features, including the following: Much of the first two parts of the book consists of background material on: (1) logic, (2) history and philosophy of science, and (3) ‘scientific method’, as well as (4) basic geological principles, (5) descriptions of Plate Tectonic theory, and (6) the principles and methods of radiometric dating. This background material is designed to help the reader to understand the implications of the empirical evidence presented in Part Two: God’s Book of Nature. Similarly, there is also extensive material on: (1) Biblical interpretation and hermeneutics, (2) textual criticism, (3) the history of ancient Israel, (4) development of the Hebrew language, and (5) some of the basic elements of Biblical Hebrew. This material is given prior to looking at the literary structure and genre of the Genesis 1-2 text, and then conducting thorough and complete exegetical analyses of the various textual units of Genesis 1-2 in Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture. Prior to the exegetical analyses for each of the textual units of Genesis 1-2, (1) the Biblical Hebrew text, (2) a standard English translation, and (3) an Interlinear version of the text of that unit are provided. The Interlinear version consists of (a) the Hebrew text, with (b) SBL transliterations and (c) English glosses below each one of the Hebrew words. Color coding and other types of annotations/highlighting are used throughout Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture, in order to help the reader identify important Biblical Hebrew elements, including recurring phrases, important BH words, and key BHVS verb forms. There are more than 2000 detailed footnotes. Many of these footnotes also cross-reference other topics in the book to make it easier for the reader to refer back to a discussion of some important theme or concept. Excerpts from the entries of reputable Hebrew and Greek lexicons (for words written in the original languages of the Biblical text) are also footnoted. An Appendix is included with a Key to Transliteration and Pronunciation for Biblical Hebrew graphemes; it also has a short section on Biblical Hebrew Accent Markings. Numerous detailed, colored figures are sprinkled throughout the text. In many of these figures, the artwork itself is worth the inexpensive price of the digital edition of this book. Part Six: The Good News is worth reading as a stand-alone exposition of God’s Grace, but it also helps put the rest of the book in context. Although the most common (and logical) way to read A Fresh Look at Genesis 1-2 is from start to finish, this 1100-page book was also intended to be used as a reference work. Footnotes direct the reader back to pertinent material in preceding chapters that might not have been read already (or that readers might want to revisit, in order to refresh their memory on some topic). A routine flight from Washington DC to San Francisco is intercepted and taken aboard a huge alien space cruiser. The aliens explain their action as trying to recruit suitable people from Earth to join their Galactic Federation. They state that after receiving explanatory lectures everyone will be returned to Earth, but without any knowledge of their experience. Only those selected will be given the chance to retain knowledge of what they have seen. They are told they will return to Earth within about ten days and, should regard the operation as a vacation. Placing the aircraft on the space cruiser is accomplished by means of a UFO controlled by an individual from Earth who joined the Federation after his abduction many years earlier. He is accompanied on the UFO by an alien assistant. It is explained that the Federation already has hundreds of people from Earth who have joined the Galactic Federation after learning of its existence. The first step after the UFO and the jetliner are placed on board the cruiser is to transport them to Solar Base 3 which is located on Titan, the large moon of the planet Saturn. This is where the explanatory lectures are to be given. While at Solar Base 3, the captain, co-pilot and flight engineer of the jetliner are offered the chance to visit a planet outside the Solar System. This ultimately results in the operation of the jetliner on an alien planet! There is much food for thought in the detailed narrative.

Tuebor was the most advanced civilization in our sector of the galaxy and they willingly shared their technology with most of the civilizations they encountered during their space explorations. This led to the formation of the Hocage Alliance. The Vate decided that the Tuebor led Alliance would be an easy acquisition and started a war. However, they underestimated the resistance of the other members of the Alliance and found themselves in a vicious stalemate. The Balekian Empire engaged the Vate during their conquest of all civilizations they encountered. The Vate realized that they could not defeat the Empire, therefore, asked the Alliance to join them in an effort to defeat a enemy who eventually would consume the Alliance. After thousands of years of war, a truce was finally signed which eventually led to the formation of THE COALITION. Tueborian influence within THE COALITION began to erode and they sought help from the remnants of the genetically related colony established on Earth 66 million years ago. This led to the 12.3 light-year separation of a teenage girl and her parents. Jackie and Bob Cavish were supposedly killed in a car crash. After the initial shock of her parents deaths, Denise Cavish questions police about several incidents surrounding the accident that doesnt make sense including the unauthorized cremation of the bodies. The disappearance of Denises best friend Kim Longley seems to be unrelated to the Cavishs apparent deaths. Acting on her own, Denise follows a lead that takes her to a remote fishing cabin in Montana where she almost kills the man responsible for reuniting the family. Once together the family helps the Tueborians and THE COALITION in dealing with the Genigans and Ammonoids in Book I; the Imini, Esortians, and Reptilians in Book II; and the United Reptilian Systems, the Plasma People and the Cosmic Creature in Book III. The Genigans and especially the Reptilians tend to settle any disputes with war. The Imini are always in constant flight for survival but will fight to eat. The Esortians chase the Imini throughout the galaxy and multi- dimensions while attacking anyone who helps their foe. The Ammonoids are reluctant to share and prefer to control situations through the non-confrontational use of their technology. The Plasma People and the Cosmic Creature arewell far out. Book III concludes with the Day Of Truth and the final chance for Earth to join THE COALITION. The story gives an awesome sense of appreciation for each species own very special but trivial place in this magnificent mysterious multidimensional ever-evolving universe. They learned to face issues far greater than their own personal needs. As a group they gradually learned that they must bind together for mutual protection and prosperity. THE COALITION provides adventure, mystery, humor and a touch of love all developed by the gradual blending of characters and species. It also provides some thoughts concerning the following questions: Did you ever wonder why the Chicxulub impact was so amazingly effective in wiping out all dinosaurs on Earth? Why Earth has humanoids of various colors? Which, if any, humanoids are indigenous to Earth? Why media exposure to science fiction has dramatically increased during the past 25 years?
