Hidden in a secret book of cosmology, written in the ancient Hebrew tongue, long forgotten but not lost by mankind, is a description of a mysterious cube formed from the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This cube of letters is constructed of a center, three interior dimensions, six faces, and twelve edges. These twenty-two components form the cube, and also reveal a map that clearly shows where we have come from, where we are now, and where we are going in our evolutionary journey toward complete spiritual awakening. In New Dimensions for the Cube of Space, David Allen Hulse explains that this cube of letters cannot reveal its deepest secrets until it is clothed in the cards of the tarot, creating a map of the cosmos referred to as the Cube of Space. Then, and only then, can this mystical cube speak directly to our souls and show us the way, or the true path of initiation we all must eventually travel. He presents a fascinating description of how he attained his insights along with a clear exposition of the Cube of Space as a path of initiation. Hulse illustrates his insights using the original B.O.T.A. tarot deck, designed by Paul Foster Case. The clear and simple imagery of this deck is very helpful for understanding every nuance of the symbolic material in the story of the soul's journey around the six faces of the cube. However, the popular Waite deck, or any other Tarot deck can be used in studying the Cube of Space. Included is the material needed for the construction of a model of the Cube of Space and Hulse recommends that the reader assemble this model, as it will greatly facilitate a clear understanding of the symbolic meaning behind each of the of the twenty-two directions of space delineated by the cube. Includes a color insert for construction of your own Cube!

What is a threshold space? A prelude, an intermediate space, a barrier? Inside or outside? The threshold space is all of these, usually even at the same time. He lives on the spatial ambivalence between opening and closing and at the same time creates the expectation of what is to come. Till Boettger has dealt in teaching and research projects closely with the architectural staging of arrival and reception. His book is a collection of exemplary phenomenological analyzes of spatial transitions in historical and modern cultural buildings by renowned architects. It also develops a methodology to optimize threshold rooms in all construction projects. In addition to a balance that can generate an exciting space, there is also primarily the temporal sequence of experiencing determining. Threshold spaces are shown here in their role as a spatial agent: they receive and bid farewell.

Body and space refer to vital and interrelated dimensions in the experience of sounds and music. Sounds have an overwhelming impact on feelings of bodily presence and inform us about the space we experience. Even in situations where visual information is artificial or blurred, such as in virtual environments or certain genres of film and computer games, sounds may shape our perceptions and lead to surprising new experiences. This book discusses recent developments in a range of interdisciplinary fields, taking into account the rapidly changing ways of experiencing sounds and music, the consequences for how we engage with sonic events in daily life and the technological advancements that offer insights into state-of-the-art methods and future perspectives. Topics range from the pleasures of being locked into the beat of the music, perception–action coupling and bodily resonance, and affordances of musical instruments, to neural processing and cross-modal experiences of space and pitch. Applications of these findings are discussed for movement sonification, room acoustics, networked performance, and for the spatial coordination of movements in dance, computer gaming and interactive artistic installations.

4 lation and optimization. These are essential constituents of the iterative process, leading to a feasible and, one hopes, optimal design. 1.3 Content of the Book In Chapter 2 we present briefly the history of CAD. The main components of CAD systems are identified, and their principal functions described. Economi cal and interdisciplinary aspects are discussed. Chapter 3 starts with a systems analysis of the design process. The notion of a process is introduced as a fundamental tool to describe activities like design as a whole, computer-aided design, program executions, terminal sessions etc. The environment and the resources which the environment must supply for the successful execution of any process are discussed. The problem of modelling the design objects in an abstract schema and the interrelation between the schema and the planning of the individual step in the design are analysed. Chapter 4 concentrates on the interfaces among the components of a CAD system, including the human operator. The problem of mapping an abstract schema onto the capabilities of various programming, command, or data de scription languages is described in detail. Emphasis is laid upon the resource aspect and its influence on the design of CAD systems. The concept of a CAD software machine is introduced, and rules for designing such machines are given.

2 e This book describes principles, methods and tools that are common to computer applications for design tasks. CAD is considered in this book as a discipline that provides the required know-how in computer hardware and software, in systems analysis and in engineering methodology for specifying, designing, implementing, introducing, and using computer based systems for design purposes. The first chapter gives an impression of the book as a whole, and following chapters deal with the history and the components of CAD, the process aspect of CAD, CAD architecture, graphical devices and systems, CAD engineering methods, CAD data transfer, and application examples. The flood of new developments in the field and the success of the first edition of this book have led the authors to prepare this completely revised, updated and extended second edition. Extensive new material is included on computer graphics, implementation methodology and CAD data transfer; the material on graphics standards is updated. The book is aimed primarily at engineers who design or install CAD systems. It is also intended for students who seek a broad fundamental background in CAD.

This book shapes a situated body politics to re-think, re-write, and de-colonise social work as a post-anthropocentric discipline headed towards glocalisation, where human and non-human embodiments and agencies are entangled in glocal environmental worlds. It critically and creatively examines how social work can be theorised, practised, and written in renewed ways through dialogical and transdisciplinary practices. This book is composed of eight essayistic spaces, envisioning social work through embodied, glocal, and earthly entanglements. By drawing on research-based knowledge, autobiographical notes, stories, poetry, photographs, and an art exhibition in social work education, these essays provide readers with analysis and strategies that are useful for research, education, and practice as well as life-long learning. The book constitutes key literature for researchers, educators, practitioners, and activists in social work, sociology, architecture, art and creative writing, feminist and postcolonial studies, human geography, and post-anthropocentric philosophy. It offers the readers sustainable ways to re-think and re-write social work towards a glocal- and post-anthropocentric more-than-human worldview.

The Third Space serves a crucial need for contemporary performers by providing an interdisciplinary and physiovocal approach to training. It is a new take on body and voice integration designed to develop the holistic performer. It takes performers through a series of step-by-step practical physiovocal exercises that connects the actor’s centre to the outside world, which increases awareness of self and space. It also develops a deeper connection between spaces within the body and the environment by connecting sound, imagination, and movement. Robert Lewis’s approach is a way of working that unlocks the imagination as well as connecting performers to self, space, and imagination, through voice and body. It conditions, controls, and engages performers by integrating various voice and movement practices. The theories and practice are balanced throughout by: introducing the practical works theoretical underpinnings through research, related work, and case studies of performances; demonstrating a full program of exercises that helps performers get in touch with their centre, their space, and shape both within and outside the body; and exploring the performers physiovocal instrument and its connection with imagination, energies, and dynamics. This book is the result of nearly 20 years of research and practice working with voice and movement practitioners across the globe to develop training that produces performers that are physiovocally ready to work in theatre, screen, and emergent technologies.
