In 1960 the Polish mathematician Zdzidlaw Opial (1930--1974) published an inequality involving integrals of a function and its derivative. This volume offers a systematic and up-to-date account of developments in Opial-type inequalities. The book presents a complete survey of results in the field, starting with Opial's landmark paper, traversing through its generalizations, extensions and discretizations. Some of the important applications of these inequalities in the theory of differential and difference equations, such as uniqueness of solutions of boundary value problems, and upper bounds of solutions are also presented. This book is suitable for graduate students and researchers in mathematical analysis and applications.

In this book the author presents the Opial, Poincaré, Sobolev, Hilbert, and Ostrowski fractional differentiation inequalities. Results for the above are derived using three different types of fractional derivatives, namely by Canavati, Riemann-Liouville and Caputo. The univariate and multivariate cases are both examined. Each chapter is self-contained. The theory is presented systematically along with the applications. The application to information theory is also examined. This monograph is suitable for researchers and graduate students in pure mathematics. Applied mathematicians, engineers, and other applied scientists will also find this book useful.

Inequalities for Differential and Integral Equations has long been needed; it contains material which is hard to find in other books. Written by a major contributor to the field, this comprehensive resource contains many inequalities which have only recently appeared in the literature and which can be used as powerful tools in the development of applications in the theory of new classes of differential and integral equations. For researchers working in this area, it will be a valuable source of reference and inspiration. It could also be used as the text for an advanced graduate course. - Covers a variety of linear and nonlinear inequalities which find widespread applications in the theory of various classes of differential and integral equations - Contains many inequalities which have only recently appeared in literature and cannot yet be found in other books - Provides a valuable reference to engineers and graduate students

Integral Inequalities And Applications written by D.D. Bainov and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-18 with Mathematics categories.

This volume is devoted to integral inequalities of the Gronwall-Bellman-Bihari type. Following a systematic exposition of linear and nonlinear inequalities, attention is paid to analogues including integro-differential inequalities, functional differential inequalities, and discrete and abstract analogues. Applications to the investigation of the properties of solutions of various classes of equations such as uniqueness, stability, dichotomy, asymptotic equivalence and behaviour is also discussed. The book comprises three chapters. Chapter I and II consider classical linear and nonlinear integral inequalities. Chapter III is devoted to various classes of integral inequalities of Gronwall type, and their analogues, which find applications in the theory of integro-differential equations, partial differential equations, differential equations with deviating argument, impube differential equations, etc. Each chapter concludes with a section illustrating the manner of application. The book also contains an extensive bibliography. For researchers whose work involves the theory and application of integral inequalities in mathematics, engineering and physics.

Research in the theory of trigonometric series has been carried out for over two centuries. The results obtained have greatly influenced various fields of mathematics, mechanics, and physics. Nowadays, the theory of simple trigonometric series has been developed fully enough (we will only mention the monographs by Zygmund [15, 16] and Bari [2]). The achievements in the theory of multiple trigonometric series look rather modest as compared to those in the one-dimensional case though multiple trigonometric series seem to be a natural, interesting and promising object of investigation. We should say, however, that the past few decades have seen a more intensive development of the theory in this field. To form an idea about the theory of multiple trigonometric series, the reader can refer to the surveys by Shapiro [1], Zhizhiashvili [16], [46], Golubov [1], D'yachenko [3]. As to monographs on this topic, only that ofYanushauskas [1] is known to me. This book covers several aspects of the theory of multiple trigonometric Fourier series: the existence and properties of the conjugates and Hilbert transforms of integrable functions; convergence (pointwise and in the LP-norm, p > 0) of Fourier series and their conjugates, as well as their summability by the Cesaro (C,a), a> -1, and Abel-Poisson methods; approximating properties of Cesaro means of Fourier series and their conjugates.

This volume proposes and explores a new definition of logarithmic mappings as invertible selectors of multifunctions induced by linear operators with domains and ranges in an algebra over a field of characteristic zero. Amongst the applications of logarithmic and antilogarithmic mappings are the solution of linear and nonlinear equations in algebras of square matrices. Some results may also provide numerical algorithms for the approximation of solutions. This book will be of interest to research mathematicians and other scientists of other disciplines whose work involves the solution of equations.
