Analytical Applications Of Circular Dichroism written by N. Purdie and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-12-01 with Science categories.

Circular dichroism is a special technique which provides unique information on dissymmetric molecules. Such compounds are becoming increasingly important in a wide variety of fields, such as natural products chemistry, pharmaceutics, molecular biology, etc. The content of this book has been selected in order to feature the unique aspects of circular dichroism, and how these strengths can be of assistance to workers in the field. Substantial discussions have been provided regarding the particular phenomena associated with dissymmetric compounds which give rise to the circular dichroism effect. Reviews are also given of the type of instrumentation available for the measurement of these effects. A number of chapters cover the wide range of applications illustrating the power of the method. Owing to its broad appeal, the book will be of interest to workers in all areas of chemistry and pharmaceutical science.

The Airborne Microparticle written by E. James Davis and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

It has been thirty years since one of the authors (EJD) began a collaboration with Professor Milton Kerker at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York using light scattering methods to study aerosol processes. The development of a relatively short-lived commercial particle levitator based on a modification of the Millikan oil drop experiment attracted their attention and led the author to the study of single droplets and solid microparticles by levitation methods. The early work on measurements of droplet evaporation rates using light scattering techniques to determine the size slowly expanded and diversified as better instrumentation was developed, and faster computers made it possible to perform Mie theory light scattering calculations with ease. Several milestones can be identified in the progress of single microparticle studies. The first is the introduction of the electrodynamic balance, which provided more robust trapping of a particle. The electrodynamic levitator, which has played an important role in atomic and molecular ion spectroscopy, leading to the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1989 shared by Wolfgang Paul of Bonn University and Hans Dehmelt of the University of Washington, was easily adapted to trap microparticles. Simultaneously, improvements in detectors for acquiring and storing light scattering data and theoretical and experimental studies of the interesting optical properties of microspheres, especially the work on morphology dependent resonances by Arthur Ashkin at the Bell Laboratories, Richard Chang, from Yale University, and Tony Campillo from the Naval Research Laboratories in Washington D. C.

Lyophilized Biologics And Vaccines written by Dushyant Varshney and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-19 with Medical categories.

This book provides a detailed account of the most recent developments, challenges and solutions to seamlessly advance and launch a lyophilized biologics or vaccine product, based on diverse modalities, ranging from antibodies (e.g., monoclonal, fused), complex biologics (e.g., antibody drug conjugate, PEGylated proteins), and vaccines (e.g., recombinant-protein based). The authors adeptly guide the reader through all crucial aspects, from biophysical and chemical stability considerations of proteins, analytical methods, advances in controlled ice nucleation and quality-by-design approaches, alternate drying technology, to latest regulatory, packaging and technology transfer considerations to develop a stable, safe and effective therapeutic protein, vaccine and biotechnology products. Lyophilized Biologics and Vaccines: Modality-Based Approaches is composed of four sections with a total of 17 chapters. It serves as a reference to all critical assessments and steps from early pre-formulation stages to product launch: Provides recent understanding of heterogeneity of protein environment and selection of appropriate buffer for stabilization of lyophilized formulations Details the latest developments in instrumental analysis and controlled ice nucleation technology Explains in-depth lyophilized (or dehydrated) formulation strategies considering diverse modalities of biologics and vaccines, including plasmid DNA and lipid-based therapeutics Details an exhaustive update on quality-by-design and process analytical technology approaches, illustrated superbly by case studies and FDA perspective Provides the latest detailed account of alternate drying technologies including spray drying, bulk freeze-drying and crystallization, supported exceptionally by case studies Provides a step-by-step guide through critical considerations during process scale-up, technology transfer, packaging and drug delivery device selection, for a successful lyophilization process validation, regulatory submission and product launch Chapters are written by one or more world-renowned leading authorities from academia, industry or regulatory agencies, whose expertise cover lyophilization of the diverse modalities of biopharmaceuticals. Their contributions are based on the exhaustive review of literature coupled with excellent hands-on experiences in laboratory or GMP setup, making this an exceptional guide to all stages of lyophilized or dehydrated product development.

Trace Analysis With Nanomaterials written by David T. Pierce and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-05-25 with Science categories.

Presenting a wide variety of methods, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the current state -- ranging from bioanalysis to electrochemical sensing, forensics and chemistry, while also covering the toxicity aspects of nanomaterials to humans and the environment. Edited by rising stars in the field, the first section on biological analysis includes an investigation of nanoparticles and micro- and nanofluidic systems, while the second, environmental analysis, looks at the detection, monitoring, and sensing of explosives as well as pollutants, among other topics. The final part covers such advanced methods as the synthesis and characterization of gold nanorods. For analytical chemists, materials scientists, chemists working in trace analysis, and spectroscopists.
