From the reviews: "This is a book of interest to any having to work with differential equations, either as a reference or as a book to learn from. The authors have taken trouble to make the treatment self-contained. It (is) suitable required reading for a PhD student. Although the material has been developed from lectures at Stanford, it has developed into an almost systematic coverage that is much longer than could be covered in a year's lectures". Newsletter, New Zealand Mathematical Society, 1985 " ... as should be clear from the previous discussion, this book is a bibliographical monument to the theory of both theoretical and applied PDEs that has not acquired any flaws due to its age. On the contrary, it remains a crucial and essential tool for the active research in the field. In a few words, in my modest opinion, “. . . this book contains the essential background that a researcher in elliptic PDEs should possess the day s/he gets a permanent academic position. . . .” SIAM Newsletter

In addition to its further exploration of the subject of peacocks, introduced in recent Séminaires de Probabilités, this volume continues the series’ focus on current research themes in traditional topics such as stochastic calculus, filtrations and random matrices. Also included are some particularly interesting articles involving harmonic measures, random fields and loop soups. The featured contributors are Mathias Beiglböck, Martin Huesmann and Florian Stebegg, Nicolas Juillet, Gilles Pags, Dai Taguchi, Alexis Devulder, Mátyás Barczy and Peter Kern, I. Optimal Control Of Mechanical Oscillations written by Agnessa Kovaleva and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book deals with two aspects of the optimal control of oscillatory systems: the initiation of optimal oscillatory regimes and possibilities of the control for random disturbances. The main content of the book is based on some assertions of the optimal control theory and the disturbance theory. Informations necessary for the understanding are given in the appendix. All the theoretical propositions are illustrated by examples with exact mechanical context. Since the book mainly contains mathematical foundations, applications are not limited to the given examples.

Heavy Traffic Analysis Of Controlled Queueing And Communication Networks written by Harold Kushner and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-21 with Mathematics categories.

The aim of this book is the development of the heavy traffic approach to the modeling and analysis of queueing networks, both controlled and uncontrolled, and many applications to computer, communications, and manufacturing systems. The methods exploit the multiscale structure of the physical problem to get approximating models that have the form of reflected diffusion processes, either controlled or uncontrolled. These ap proximating models have the basic structure of the original problem, but are significantly simpler. Much of inessential detail is eliminated (or "av eraged out"). They greatly simplify analysis, design, and optimization and yield good approximations to problems that would otherwise be intractable, under broad conditions. Queueing-type processes are ubiquitous occurrences in operations re search, and in communications and computer systems. Indeed, it is hard to avoid them in modern technology. The subject is now about 100 years old. and there is an enormous literature. Impressive techniques, many based on Markov chain and ergodic theory, have been developed to han dle a great variety of models. A sampling of the numerous books includes [6, 8, 18, 27, 33, 46, 81, 86, 132, 133, 220, 243]. But the models of interest are growing fast in the face of the demands of new applications, particularly in communications and computer systems.

Stochastic Analysis And Partial Differential Equations written by Gui-Qiang Chen and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Mathematics categories.

This book is a collection of original research papers and expository articles from the scientific program of the 2004-05 Emphasis Year on Stochastic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations at Northwestern University. Many well-known mathematicians attended the events and submitted their contributions for this volume. Topics from stochastic analysis discussed in this volume include stochastic analysis of turbulence, Markov processes, microscopic lattice dynamics, microscopic interacting particle systems, and stochastic analysis on manifolds. Topics from partial differential equations include kinetic equations, hyperbolic conservation laws, Navier-Stokes equations, and Hamilton-Jacobi equations. A variety of methods, such as numerical analysis, homogenization, measure-theoretical analysis, entropy analysis, weak convergence analysis, Fourier analysis, and Ito's calculus, are further developed and applied. All these topics are naturally interrelated and represent a cross-section of the most significant recent advances and current trends and directions in stochastic analysis and partial differential equations. This volume is suitable for researchers and graduate students interested in stochastic analysis, partial differential equations, and related analysis and applications.

Probability Theory And Its Applications In China written by Shijian Yan and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991 with Mathematics categories.

Probability theory has always been an active field of research in China, but, until recently, almost all of this research was written in Chinese. This book contains surveys by some of China's leading probabilists, with a fairly complete coverage of theoretical probability and selective coverage of applied topics. The purpose of the book is to provide an account of the most significant results in probability obtained in China in the past few decades and to promote communication between probabilists in China and those in other countries. This collection will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in mathematics and probability theory, as well as to researchers in such areas as physics, engineering, biochemistry, and information science. Among the topics covered here are: stochastic analysis, stochastic differential equations, Dirichlet forms, Brownian motion and diffusion, potential theory, geometry of manifolds, semi-martingales, jump Markov processes, interacting particle systems, entropy production of Markov processes, renewal sequences and p-functions, multi-parameter stochastic processes, stationary random fields, limit theorems, strong approximations, large deviations, stochastic control systems, and probability problems in information theory.
