This book describes how a model for optimizing the energy supply system in Germany can be implemented. It focuses on the open energy modeling framework (Oemof) program for modeling energy supply systems. The individual elements of Oemof are described, as well as the model's structure. The technical components of Oemof are subsequently demonstrated in mathematical calculations, along with sufficient Python code to begin basic modeling. The book will appeal to anyone with an interest in optimization models for energy supply systems, or in the mathematical description of the technical components of such systems in practical implementation, using a real example, Oemof. Thermodynamic descriptions of combustion are provided, so that readers can focus on modeling aspects. Researchers and practitioners will also find the book useful, as it expands on their knowledge of the technical components of energy supply systems, supported with detailed mathematical calculations.

Distributed energy technologies are gaining popularity nowadays; however, due to the highly intermittent characteristics of distributed energy resources, a larger penetration of these resources into the distribution grid network becomes of major concern. The main issue is to cope with the intermittent nature of the renewable sources alongside the requirements for power quality and system stability. Unlike traditional power systems, the control and optimization of complex energy systems comprising of wind, solar, thermal, and energy storage becomes difficult in many aspects, such as modelling, integration, operation, coordination and planning etc. This means that energy conversion as per the standards imposed by the energy market is unachievable without adequate control, management, and optimization. This edited book serves as a resource for the engineers, scientists and professionals working on distributed energy systems. The book is an extensive collection of state-of-the-art studies on advanced control paradigms for complex energy systems, with emphasis on the optimization and management of the high penetration of distributed energy resources into power distribution networks. Readers will find the book inspiring and useful whilst carrying out their own research in distributed energy systems. Key features • An extensive collection of state-of-the-art studies on advanced control paradigms for complex energy systems.• Emphasis on the optimization and management of high penetration of distributed energy resources into power/energy distribution networks.• Serves as a valuable resource for engineers, scientists, academicians, experienced professionals, and research scholars who are working in management of energy systems.

Comparison And Optimization Of Building Energy Supply Systems Through Exergy Analysis And Its Perspectives written by Herena Torío Blanco and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10 with categories.

Growing concerns on environmental problems related to current energy use have emphasized the importance of "energy-saving measures" and the necessity for an increased efficiency in all forms of energy utilization. Being responsible for around 40% of the final energy use in Germany, buildings are major contributors to energy related problems and a sector where a more rational and efficient energy use is absolutely necessary. By showing the thermodynamic efficiency of an energy system, exergy analysis is expected to be a valuable tool for developing and designing more efficient energy supply systems in buildings, similarly as it has contributed to raise the efficiency of power plants. In this thesis, the usability and added value of exergy analysis applied to different building energy systems is investigated. Exergy analysis is, herefore, compared to conventional primary energy assessment and the different results and conclusions obtained from both methods are thoroughly studied and discussed.
