Sempre soube que o Senhor Jesus orou. Recentemente estava meditando no Evangelho de Lucas. Foi então que fui surpreendido pela vida de oração do Senhor Jesus. A Sua vida inteira foi absorvida pela oração. Viveu na presença do Pai. Sua vida foi gasta em oração. Saía ocasionalmente da oração para cumprir alguma tarefa que Lhe havia sido entregue pelo Pai e voltava para a oração assim que a cumprisse. Fui profundamente comovido pela qualidade e quantidade de orações do Senhor. Ele orava. Pela maneira que orava, é óbvio que entendia que tudo dependia da oração. Sou convencido que o Senhor Jesus entendeu o verdadeiro valor da oração. Este valor se reflete pelo tanto que Ele orou. Também estou agora mais atento que por uma atividade especial do Inimigo, a igreja foi encoberta de ver a oração como o Pai a vê e como o Filho a viu. Esta cegueira parece total em alguns e é certamente parcial em todos os outros. Como pessoas de Deus na cidade de Yaundê, nossos olhos estão começando a ser abertos à importância da oração. Isto resultou em cruzadas individuais de orações – cruzadas de orações de duas, quatro, seis pessoas e cruzadas de orações das Igrejas em Células. Isto também resultou nas sete cadeias de orações que se espalham nesta cidade onde as pessoas estão mantendo vigílias de orações - vinte e quatro horas por dia, sete dias por semana. Acreditamos que este é só o começo. Nossos olhos estão abertos apenas parcialmente porque ainda têm um fardo limitado que conduz o rasgar dos corações diante de Deus e o sacudir o céu em oração. Suplicamos ao Senhor que abra nossos olhos de forma que possamos ver a importância crítica da oração mais claramente. Também oramos para que Ele abra nossos olhos para vermos o quão atrasados estamos. Oramos para que Ele nos ensine e nos permita derramar todo nosso ser em oração, converter o tempo gasto com o sono em tempo de oração; converter todo minuto disponível em tempo de oração. Também oramos para que Ele nos permita controlar os aspectos práticos da oração de maneira vantajosa, porque um exército bem equipado, mas pobremente organizado pode ainda sofrer perda séria. Há outras coisas que deveriam ter sido incluídas neste livro. Pensamos melhor e resolvemos deixar algumas delas para os livros subseqüentes que, pela graça de Deus, seguirão após este. A substância destas mensagens foi dada primeiramente aos líderes de Igrejas em Células na cidade de Yaundé e em redor. Quando foi ensinado, não tínhamos planos de que estas mensagens se tornariam um livro, mas o Senhor quis que fosse assim. O volume companheiro deste livro é o próximo nesta série, Comovendo Deus através da Oração. Ambas as séries de mensagens foram entregues ao mesmo tempo. Teríamos gostado de fazer ambas em um único livro, mas houve um problema com o tamanho. Se você ao ler esta mensagem, for abençoado, quererá ler o próximo livro da série. Também achará que precisa do material contido nos primeiros quatro livros para captar os temas de oração, jejum, e intercessão. Um livro de oração não é um romance. Não pode ser lido com facilidade ou numa sentada só. Tem que ser lido em pequenas porções. Sugiro que você leia o livro primeiramente fazendo uma rápida leitura e então deveria recomeçar em uma leitura mais lenta (uma porção de cada vez). Estabeleci o hábito de ter um bom livro sobre oração sobre a mesa ou perto de minha cama. Sempre levo um comigo. Enquanto leio porções pequenas de livros como os escritos por E. M. Bounds, sou movido a orar. Você pode achar o hábito benéfico também. Pode achar que um dos livros ou alguns dos livros nesta série são bênçãos a você. O Senhor estava no Ministério de Oração. Também ensinou Seus discípulos como orar. Você e eu devemos fazer o mesmo e realmente seremos abençoados e, acima de tudo, o nome do Senhor será glorificado.
