Un système qualité efficace constitue un cadre de référence pour le développement des activités d’un établissement du sang (ES), la mise en œuvre de ces activités selon une approche axée sur la qualité et leur contrôle continu en vue d’améliorer les résultats obtenus. La résolution 63.12 de l’Assemblée mondiale de la Santé présente la mise en place d’un système qualité dans les ES comme l’une des stratégies nécessaires pour garantir la qualité, l’innocuité et l’efficacité des produits sanguins. Ce document d’orientation explique en quoi consistent les éléments essentiels d’un système qualité et fournit des orientations et des conseils sur l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre progressives d’un système qualité efficace au sein d’un ES. Il présente également les facteurs clés permettant d’y parvenir, à savoir l’implication des dirigeants, l’adhésion et la responsabilisation du personnel ainsi que la création d’une culture positive de la qualité. Il fournit enfin des informations sur les ressources et les outils techniques existants que les ES sont encouragés à utiliser lors de l’élaboration et de la mise en place d’un système qualité performant.

Most women who die from cervical cancer, particularly in developing countries, are in the prime of their life. These guidelines have been developed to support countries to relieve pain in their paediatric populations. These guidelines address persisting pain in children caused by conditions such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle-cell disease, burns, trauma, and phantom limb pain. Recommendations -- developed following a careful and transparent appraisal of available evidence -- are presented for the pharmacological treatment of mild, moderate and severe pain. The guidelines include chapters on the various systems used to classify pain and on the evaluation of pain, which reviews the available tools for routine pain measurement in children. Provision of sustainable pain relief within health care systems is covered in a separate chapter. Concerning the use of opioids, readers are reminded that psychological dependence does not occur in cancer patients and that the only correct dose of morphine is the one that relieves the pain.
