Agustina Hernández nos presenta en su cuarto libro, Otros ámbitos, un recorrido por su habitual narrativa de cuentos y microrrelatos, que ondulan entre el realismo, lo fantástico y la ciencia ficción. Se permite en ellos reflexionar y cuestionar sobre su propia experiencia, su vida, sus momentos y sobre la sociedad en general, una sociedad confundida y dispar a la hora de tomar un rumbo. Por eso la idea de «otros ámbitos» abre un escenario donde las luces hacen foco y oscilan desde lo cotidiano, como ámbito real posible, a la ficción y viceversa, y triangulan con el ámbito de la imagen cinematográfica que retoma lo ficcional para volverlo casi al mismo presente. Podríamos preguntarnos si lo real es lo verdadero, ya que por momentos pareció inverosímil. Podríamos preguntarnos si la ficción no se ha filtrado en la realidad. Lo cierto es que la autora nos propone un movimiento constante desde lo que llamamos realidad a la escritura, de lo escrito a la pantalla, de la pantalla a las imágenes oníricas. De este modo, el límite entre nuestras propias experiencias y aquellas que son narradas se desdibuja fácilmente. No hay un único ámbito. Hay otros ámbitos que se interrelacionan en un fluir constante. Como final, la autora incluye su cuento The Cardiff Corporation, bajo el formato de un pathbook, que nos permite armar nuestra propia aventura, nuestro propio recorrido. Lo llamativo de este hecho es que The Cardiff Corporation fue un cuento publicado en 2019 en su libro Entre líneas y para el año 2020 resultó epifánico, porque ya nos adelantaba el destino pandémico que vivimos. Este juego escritural invita al lector a encontrar su propio ámbito. Quizás entrar en la historia, tomar parte, volverse un personaje...

At face value, the concept of modernity seems to reference a stream of social and historical traffic headed down a utopian one-way street named "progress." Mexico's Ruins examines modernity in twentieth-century Mexican culture as a much more ambiguous concept, arguing that such a single-minded notion is inadequate to comprehend the complexity of modern Mexico's national projects and their reception by the nation's citizenry. Instead, through the trope of modernity as ruin, author Raúl Rodríguez-Hernández explores the dilemma presented by the etymology of "ruins": a simultaneous falling down and rising up, a confluence of opposing forces at work on the skyline of the metropolis since 1968. He focuses on artists and writers of the generación de medio siglo, like Juan García Ponce, and envisions both the tales of modernity and their storytellers in a new light.
