What more can be said about a book than that all Americans should read and think about it? In this time of challenges for America, here is a reasonable, readable, passionate, balanced book telling the tale of our nation's meaning from before its founding until the present day. It captures the original American spirit of hunger for liberty and opportunity, of love of God, and of reverence for honest hard work. Written by a man who has served our country all his life and knows why he has done this, the book reminds America in reasoned words and well-written prose of our founders' words and intentions. Will echoes patriot voices, old and new, holding up a standard of truth, self reliance, tolerant mercy to others, and most of all — the standard of liberty. Will traces our founding principles, the rise and effect of progressive politics, and the horrible threats America faces today. He explains how we must all be aware and active. Most importantly, he tells us all what we can and must do to see that America does not perish from the earth. Today, Americans need this book. We need to read it before our next election. Enjoy and profit from your time with Will —, I have!

From Kennebunkport to Kauai, from the Rio Grande to the Northern Rockies, ours is a vast republic. While we may be united under one Constitution, separate and distinct states remain, each with its own constitution and culture. Geographic idiosyncrasies add more than just local character. Regional understandings of law and justice have shaped and reshaped our nation throughout history. America's Constitution, our founding and unifying document, looks slightly different in California than it does in Kansas. In The Law of the Land, renowned legal scholar Akhil Reed Amar illustrates how geography, federalism, and regionalism have influenced some of the biggest questions in American constitutional law. Writing about Illinois, "the land of Lincoln," Amar shows how our sixteenth president's ideas about secession were influenced by his Midwestern upbringing and outlook. All of today's Supreme Court justices, Amar notes, learned their law in the Northeast, and New Yorkers of various sorts dominate the judiciary as never before. The curious Bush v. Gore decision, Amar insists, must be assessed with careful attention to Florida law and the Florida Constitution. The second amendment appears in a particularly interesting light, he argues, when viewed from the perspective of Rocky Mountain cowboys and cowgirls. Propelled by Amar's distinctively smart, lucid, and engaging prose, these essays allow general readers to see the historical roots of, and contemporary solutions to, many important constitutional questions. The Law of the Land illuminates our nation's history and politics, and shows how America's various local parts fit together to form a grand federal framework.

This is an argument for originalism and textualism. A constitutional theory that has taken root by a majority on the high court now. It is important to understand where we have been in order to know the republic we were promised by our founders. Herein is a paragraph-by-paragraph exclamation of the entire constitution, and our guaranteed rights. With the constitution in red it's easy to separate the language with the interpretation which I've written. My greatest hope is it will help you better understand the government we're supposed to have, as well as a little about our founders themselves. So many times, I find people who should be knowledgeable claim there are things in the constitution which are not even mentioned or grossly incorrect. I hope this corrects the record. This is a strict interpretation based only on the founders' vision as argued during the Constitutional convention, as well as debate at the time of the passage of each amendment. Mr. Rucker has served in elected positions of numerous organizations as well as in government. Has studied political theory and the constitution as well as our other founding documents. He has run for numerous offices over the last dozen years or so. In so doing has stood fast for our constitutional rights and worked for the preservation of liberty enshrined in our federal republic. He has ignored the call that nobody cares about the constitution and has forged ahead with its defense.

A concise history of the long struggle between two fundamentally opposing constitutional traditions, from one of the nation’s leading constitutional scholars—a manifesto for renewing our constitutional republic. The Constitution of the United States begins with the words: “We the People.” But from the earliest days of the American republic, there have been two competing notions of “the People,” which lead to two very different visions of the Constitution. Those who view “We the People” collectively think popular sovereignty resides in the people as a group, which leads them to favor a “democratic” constitution that allows the “will of the people” to be expressed by majority rule. In contrast, those who think popular sovereignty resides in the people as individuals contend that a “republican” constitution is needed to secure the pre-existing inalienable rights of “We the People,” each and every one, against abuses by the majority. In Our Republican Constitution, renowned legal scholar Randy E. Barnett tells the fascinating story of how this debate arose shortly after the Revolution, leading to the adoption of a new and innovative “republican” constitution; and how the struggle over slavery led to its completion by a newly formed Republican Party. Yet soon thereafter, progressive academics and activists urged the courts to remake our Republican Constitution into a democratic one by ignoring key passes of its text. Eventually, the courts complied. Drawing from his deep knowledge of constitutional law and history, as well as his experience litigating on behalf of medical marijuana and against Obamacare, Barnett explains why “We the People” would greatly benefit from the renewal of our Republican Constitution, and how this can be accomplished in the courts and the political arena.

This is an argument for Textualism and Originalism, a constitutional theory that has taken root with a majority on the high court now. It is important to understand where we have come from in order to know the republic itself, and the government we were all promised. A republic! If you can keep it. Herein is a paragraph-by-paragraph explanation of the entire constitution, which is the main law of the land. It discusses our guaranteed rights with the goal of a better understanding. The original language of the constitution in the scroll provides a clear visual separation, making it easy to distinguish the language from the explanation of each section. My greatest hope is that it will lead to a better understanding of the government we're supposed to have, as well as a little about the founders and what they were thinking. So many times, I find people who should be knowledgeable on the subject claiming things that aren't in the text or even an idea at the time. I hope this corrects the record. This is a strict interpretation based only on the founder's vision as argued during the constitutional convention as well as debate at the time of the passage of each amendment. So we're looking for the meaning when each amendment was passed.

In recent years, our constitutional order has increasingly come under attack as irredeemably undemocratic, racist, and oppressive. At the same time, it is increasingly obvious that politic practices in the United States have strayed very far from the founders’ designs and become deeply dysfunctional. The time is thus ripe for renewed reflection about the American political tradition. This volume reintroduces readers to the conservative tradition of political and constitutional discourse. It brings together prominent political scientists and legal scholars, all of whom were deeply influenced by the life and work of the eminent constitutional scholar George W. Carey. For over 40 years, Carey strove mightily to explain the nature and requirements of our political tradition. How it fostered meaningful, virtuous self-government, and how our constitutional tradition has been derailed by progressivist ideology. He is perhaps best known for his concept of “constitutional morality,” the understanding that our republican constitutional order can be sustained only by a combination of formal mechanisms (e.g., separation of powers) and unwritten norms (“standards of behavior”) that act to foster deliberation and consensus, as well as keep political actors within the boundaries of their constitutional offices. Contributors, including Francis Canavan, Claes G. Ryn, Paul Edward Gottfried, and Peter Augustine Lawler, discuss and develop Carey’s key insights, applying them to issues from the nature of majoritarian government to the purposes of constitutionalism to the decline of virtue that has accompanied the expansion of power among national and international elites. Each essay provides penetrating analysis of key aspects of our tradition, its inherent purposes, growth, and subsequent derailment, as well as the resources remaining within that tradition for the rebuilding of our constitutional order and a decent common life.

American Democracy is at a Turning Point Most of the American people believe our government is on the wrong track, is broken, and is not capable of solving our major problems. Our national leaders have for too long made the rules for how we are governed for the benefit of their careers and re-election, primarily serving partisan and donor interests instead of serving the country. This book will present fact-based, unbiased and non-partisan actions that "We the People" can take to restore a service-to-country culture in Congress and the Administration.

"As the people are the only legitimate fountain of power, and it is from them that the constitutional charter, under which the several branches of government hold their power, is derived, it seems strictly consonant to the republican theory, to recur to the same original authority... mere declarations in the written constitution are not sufficient to restrain the several departments within their legal rights" James Madison (1788). Madison argued the need for the Republic to use Constitutional Conventions when our Federal Government steps beyond its enumerated boundaries. However, We the People: Whose Constitution is it Anyway; asserts there is no need to send delegates and assemble in a central location for what could become a target of opportunity for enemies to undermine or attack the Republic. Brilliantly, this book pushes the conventional roles of a Republic into twenty-first century technology to return control back to the States and the people. This is the irrefutable argument to convene a Constitutional Convention for Republic Review. Using framers testimonies and founding documents the only logical course to preserving the Constitution is through this type of Convention.
