Over the past century or so, we have become accustomed to biographies of Our Lady which approximate, as much as possible, the hagiographical bias of our times: to stress what Mary has in common with the ordinary person rather than what makes her unique as a person: her all-holiness, her all-blessedness. This is exactly the point of reference for the ancient biographies of Mary: to illustrate her virtues above all. When we imitate Mary’s virtues, we become holy like her. You will learn from the book The virtues of Mary in her relationship to God: faith, hope, charity, conformity to God’s will, prayer and zeal. Mary’s virtues in relationship to her neighbor: humility, love for the Church, compassion, etc. Her virtues in relationship to herself: justice, simplicity, prudence, poverty, etc. The book is good for... Spiritual and faith formation of prayer groups Practical instruction on Mary in parishes Spiritual reading for novenas and feasts Personal growth in holiness in imitation of Mary

In an age of much mothering advice but few admirable role models, award-winning Catholic journalist Marge Fenelon delves into ten instances—and corresponding virtues—of Mary’s life that reveal her as the ultimate example and companion for the modern mom. In this first and only book to offer Mary’s life as a template for living as a faithful Catholic mother today, the Mother of God is presented as the ideal guide for the vocation of Catholic motherhood. A new addition to the CatholicMom.com Book series, Imitating Mary: Ten Marian Virtues for the Modern Mom unpacks Scripture and Catholic tradition to examine ten biblical climaxes, including Mary’s betrothal to Joseph, the Annunciation, the scene at the foot of the Cross, and Pentecost. In these scenes, Marge Fenelon introduces readers to a Mary who faced challenges familiar to every mother—impatience, frustration, sacrifice, and grief—and demonstrates how, in the face of these ordinary obstacles, Mary’s response was an extraordinary example through the virtues of patience, joy, trust, and faith.

THE faithful children of the Church, throughout the Catholic world, as well as every true religious, cherish the devotion to the Most Holy Virgin, strive to obtain its true spirit and observe all the practices it enjoins, because they feel that this devotion satisfies the innermost wants of the soul, opens up an unfailing fountain of divine grace, and procures for us the purest - the most inexpressible joys. Among the most efficacious means which our Holy Mother the Church has instituted to promote and foster this devotion in our souls, there is none more beneficial in its effects and influence than the holy practice of regular and daily meditation on the prerogatives, the life, the virtues, the glorious mission of Mary; of contemplating, by the light of faith, the Most Blessed Virgin, the master-piece of the Creator, the model of all virtues, the exalted Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Queen of Heaven, raised in glory far above the cherubim, yet, tenderly hearkening to our supplications, shedding around us the love of her own heart, accepting our humble offerings, and bestowing upon us those celestial treasures which flow through her as the channel of divine mercy. It is impossible to meditate on the attributes of Mary without being filled with the most intense desire to honor her name and invoke her intercession so to live as to merit her protection now, that hereafter we may participate in her glory. Who can behold her in anyone of the aspects in which she presents herself to our piety without experiencing, in his heart, the love of the most exalted virtue? The object of the present work is to render some aid in the proper performance of this holy and salutary exercise. We shall consider in order: 1. The life of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. 2. Her virtues. 3. Her exalted greatness and her patronage. 4. The devotion of which she is the object. The Meditations will be sufficiently numerous: I. For all the Feasts of the Most Blessed Virgin. 2. For every day in the month of Mary. 3. For the Saturdavs on which no particular feast occurs.

Our Lord is constantly pouring out graces upon mankind, yet only a few — those closest to His heart — know how to receive them. Sadly, countless graces are left unclaimed (likely many by you!) and are thus never allowed to further God's will on earth. How different our lives would be if we accessed God's grace more intentionally! Thankfully, God in His compassion gave us a perfect model for disposing ourselves to His graces and responding to them: the Blessed Virgin Mary. In The Imitation of Mary, Fr. Quan Tran shows you how to imitate the twelve essential qualities of Mary in order to unleash a torrent of graces in your life. He explains that, like any gift, grace must be received, opened, and used. As you learn how, you'll begin to acquire the temperaments, dispositions, and qualities that are most pleasing to God — and you'll serve as a channel of God's grace for others. You'll also learn:

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the humane mother of our Savior. She is our great intercessor. She is the ideal woman who is an epitome of good moral values with indescribable endowment and all-encompassing qualities of ideal mother. The book captures the unequaled intrinsic and extrinsic spectacular qualities of the immaculate mother which radiate beyond reproach as made manifest in her sinless and ever virgin nature, thus her body suffered no decay.Mother Mary, as revealed in the book, is an embodiment of unparalleled example of ideal mother and woman as enumerated in her litany. What is more is her pondering character which culminated in her subtle and soothing words made evident in the wedding in Cana. We imagine her behold the torture and shameful treatment given to her Son on the way to Calvary, and eventually to the grave for no atom of sin. For any woman and mother, this is the highest point of grieve, the hardest nut to crack and the swallowing of a bone with sharp ends at all joints. In all these, she remained resolute to the will of God. Mary immaculate in this text is a woman of honour. Here is a divine example of a woman in leadership, a salvage of woman integrity in whom God encoded all virtues. Mary the Mother of God is therefore, worthy of emulation by any positive thinking and meaningful mother, wife and girl child who is aspiring to possess the earth and commune with the saints. In my research on woman in authority/governance in Igbo land, the people attested that good mothers inoculate good morals, norms and values in the family and society at large. They are only the vehicle, through which life is brought into. This is because; only ideal mothers embark on tough journeys with their families, societies and the Church even to crucifixion as Mary did. Little wonder "the tender care of a woman" as revealed in the text "ceases not to a child she bears". In the Bible, we are informed that Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit had said of Mary, "Of all women, you are the most blessed'' (Lk1:42). And the Blessed Virgin Mary inspired by the same Holy Spirit had responded and sang to God in thanksgiving "Yes, from now onwards all generations will call me blessed"(Lk1:48) Hence, our mission in this reflection is to present anew our most blessed woman, who, of all women, in all generations, has reached the pinnacle of womanhood and motherhood. She remains the model that every woman and mother should look up to and emulate her exemplary life; demonstrated in the family, in the Church and in the society. Actually, we are experiencing in our time, to some regrettable extent, the degrading and debasing of the dignity and identity of womanhood. And with the current confusion of values, the beauty of womanhood is today evaluated by the standards of mere externality, at times giving way to the promotion of nudity through the so called beauty contests and fashion parades of our time. There is more lasting beauty. It involves moral beauty, spiritual beauty, intellectual beauty and lastly, physical beauty. Interestingly, the personality of the Blessed Virgin Mary encompasses all these. And the powers and glories of womanhood lie in discovering and applying these beautiful moral, spiritual, intellectual and physical qualities of the blessed woman, virgin and mother in the affairs of today's woman, in the family, Church and state.Viewed from these all inclusive angles, the movie stars, worldly celebrities, political figures fall short of standard as ideal model for every woman; the Blessed Virgin Mary wins the contest. Thus promoting her qualities, virtues and lifestyle is promoting a perfect culture of morality, piety, wisdom and all round progressiveness and culture of life. This will in turn gradually dethrone the rampant culture of vices, a culture of death experienced in the life of most of today's women Enjoy reading a faith-strengthening, instructive and inspiring book on our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary!

At Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary said: "In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph." DO we truly understand what devotion to Mary's Immaculate Heart consists? IN CONNECTION with the extension of the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the universal Church, our Holy Father, Pope Pius XII, pointed out that beyond serving as a memorial and reminder of his solemn consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart in the Basilica of St. Peter, December 8, 1942, the feast might, with the assistance of her in whose honor we celebrate it, be instrumental also in preserving peace among all nations and liberty for the Church of Christ; and further, with the repentance of sinners, it might be a strengthening of the faithful in the love of purity and the practice of virtue. Without question the observance of the Feast of the Immaculate Heart is today a highly significant celebration in the liturgical year. In view of the dogmatic implications of the feast, the various statements of the Holy See, and the response everywhere on the part of the faithful to the devotion to Mary's Heart, the significance of both the feast and consecration of the world, and the importance of the devotion to the Immaculate Heart itself are readily recognized. It was the devotion to the Sacred Heart which in previous decades guided a cold and erring world back toward the love of Christ and the acknowledgment of the Kingdom that is rightfully His. It would seem that again the grace of God is poured forth abundantly on a war-torn and pagan world, and men, through a devotion to the Mother of God, the "Hope of the World," are once more offered an opportunity for eternal salvation in the love and service of Mary and her divine Son. In the devotion to the Immaculate Heart which prompts men to imitate the virtues of the Blessed Mother we see a true blending of love and sacrifice, the very core and spirit of the Christian life. Through a devotion to her Immaculate Heart Mary will certainly form in us the likeness and virtues of her Son, and seeing more perfectly His image in us, she will love Him anew in us; and we, resembling our blessed Lord the more, will profit greatly from this closer union with Him. Our nearness to Mary is a measure of our union with Christ and an indication of the supernatural value of our lives. In uniting ourselves to Mary we necessarily draw near to our blessed Lord."Nam quid est maius hodie, Domina, quam habere cor iunctum cordi tuo . . . nonne cor tuum plenum est gratiae Illius? Et si apertum est, gratia ilIa non decurrit in cor sibi iunctum?" (Stimulus Amoris, inter opera S. Bonaventurae editum.)
